10 years after elizabeth the next installment focuses on the relationship between elizabeth and raleigh.

i really enjoyed this movie. it was a pretty ambitious project and i felt it really delivered in a number of ways: it was absolutely beautiful to look at - some of the cinematography was startling; the script was wonderful - i'm not sure how historically accurate it was; the acting was very good - cate blanchett was born to play this part. i don't normally like clive owen but i thought he captured the playful, adventurous raleigh really well. samantha morton is always a delight.

I thought that this movie was all over the place. If they edited better it could be good, but utterly forgettable as is.

i'm from the uk so i have a pretty solid grasp of the history - if they omitted to explain something, i wasn't left in the dark. as a scot, i also have an emotional attachment to the material so perhaps it resonates a little more with me.

The movie didn't flow well. It's been a while since I watched it, but it seemed as though the film had trouble juggling different story lines. As a historian, I have to admit I cannot attest to its historical accuracy, so I am not making any complaints in that regard.
