I saw this movie yesterday and was not impressed. The sets and scenery were pretty interesting but I really didn't like the movie. The first time the cat appears to the kids he just looks SCARY! And the part where he's pretending to be a pinata was just distrubing. A six-foot man dressed as a cat hanging from a tree was just weird. And I really got sick of mike meyers saying "oh yeah!" What did everyone else thing of this?

That situation sounds like it has a lot of potential, to me ;)

Whatever they're trying to overall accomplish and present to the viewer seems such a contradiction, though. There's the whole pseudo twisted & surreal atmosphere of the sets and character, mixed with ye olde "good to be a child on adventure's path" playful and dramatic musical scores. For this film.. I imagine all one can expect to feel artistically and cinematically while leaving the theatres - is raped, confused and generally fearing of those feverish, neverending nightmares which explain nothing.

me and my girlfriend went to go see it over the week-end, shes a big ol softy when it comes to kids films and well I'm a seuss fan, have been my whole life, Anyway this is the first Kid Movie I have ever been in that I actually saw a 5 year old turn to his mom and say this isn't funny can we go home, nobody in the theater laughed whatsoever, and to be honest with some of the gag's I was surprised this was only PG and not PG-13, overall, I say save your money, Mike Meyers is way overused, and the movie just isn't funny, wait for when its on cable

That movie was the longest ad for the Ford Focus I've ever seen. Oh, and the movie was a gigantic steaming pile of ass. At least the CGI goldfish turned out alright, and didn't remind me of THE DEVIL, like in that Scooby Doo movie.

It's a good thing I didn't pay to see it.

I didn't think this movie would be worthwhile, sounds like I better keep the kids away from it too. To take such an awesome classic tale and fuck it up like this is insulting

i refuse to see this movie, and i also refused to see the grinch movie with jim carrey. i think it's fucked up how they're turning wonderful books into movies that appear to have a slightly different plot than the book did. dr. suess's books are masterpieces on their own... and they shouldn't redone into a movie or fucked up in any way. ugh.
