my wife's a big woody allen fan and so we've been keeping up with his latest few. matchpoint was great. scoop was ok. this is better than both those.
mainly due to the work of the two main actors. ewan and collin strike up a fantastic chemistry onscreen, and superbly humble themselves to a couple of really down to earth and somewhat floored characters. now when i say flawed, they aren't stupid, they're realistically challenged.
put myself into their shoes, even though i am nothing like these guys, i could really see how the situation can escalate the way this one does.
the story is of two brothers, each with their plans in motion for better things. their family rely heavily on favours from a rich uncle. one day, the uncle asks a favour in return of the bros. a fuckin big favour.
allen's directing is on point. he really knows how to create tension with these recent thrillers. but seriously, watch this for the main two actors. the range delicacy they show these characters is stunning.
