Fentanyl Patch Urgent Questions!

Well here goes nothing, I recently got a 50mcg/h Fentanyl patch, and want to figure some things out. First a little background info, I am a somewhat tolerant opioid user, taking approx. 50-60mg of oxycodone to get feeling nice. But this is not daily, I sporadically take these and I dont have a constant supply. I'd say maybe 3/7 days of the week I will be on oxy. (Also a very heavy user of marijuana((eighth-quarter/day))if this even matters) I have done a lot of research about using the Fentanyl patch, but haven't found any answers really tailored to my needs. The patch I have does not have gel in it, and is kind of like tape. I am getting that cutting the patches into maybe 10-12 pieces, then chewing one or two of them(for the first time) is the best way. I want to know how long to chew the patch for, whether or not to take the backing off, and whether or not to keep the patch in your mouth after you're done chewing it. I am getting sick of researching and not finding any good answers.

I can answer a few of these for ya

You have a mediocre tolerance, recreationally using a few times a week.
A 50mcg patch is pretty strong. Cut the square into four equal pieces. Im quite sure this will be the perfect dosage. Four equal pieces.
Now take one piece, remove the backing, then fold both sticky sides together as best as you can (this is so it can be chewed easily, no sticky) and just chew it! Chew ONE PIECE. it takes about 30 mins to tell if you're feeling it (im sure you will be) after about an hour, the patch will become mushy and then its time to dispose of it and you should be high as a kite by this point.

Ok here goes...I have a very high i take 100 mg bid of oxy so i do have a tolerence...an I just aquired a 25 mcg apotex patch...and when I put them on they take man many hours to work....so now I've not had one on for the whole day...I plan on chewing on this one ...any idea how much I should chew...thanks

I have one friend dead and another in a wheelchair from chewing on fentanyl. Some time ago I was an IV addict. If I could break it down, I would inject it. I am not familiar with the new patches, but when they contained gel, I would extract the gel and inject it. I had the same dosage (50 mcg), and though I never got high, I feel fortunate to be alive. I have done some really stupid things in my life, but this was by far the worst. If you insist on chewing them, start small as was suggested above. However, your concern seems to be the time it takes for the patch to take effect. I would suggest using the patch as directed, but putting it over your heart or on your jugular. This will inhibit a quicker distribution of the medicine. One patch is supposed to last 48-72 hours. If you were to place the patch on before you go to bed, you should have very sweet dreams, and wake up on cloud 9. I cannot emphasize enough how dangerous fentanyl can be. Be careful! Most heroin addicts who OD have been victims of heroin laced with fentanyl.

^ There is a huge overdose problem going on here in Ohio with heroin laced with fentanyl. Its very strong. Start low with patches. You can always take more but if you overdue it you can't ever go back. Safety first!
