Benzos feeling like im being zapped?

So iv been taking benzos on and off for 8 years (mostly on). About 4 times a day especially after i wake up i feel these zap like sensations for a split second. ill wake up its like look to the side, zap, look up, zap.

it reminds me of SSRI or SNRI brain zaps during w/d but im stable at 40 mgs of valium.. so im not in w/d

This happens when you are on a hypnotic dose and are trying to be mobile as if you were not on anything.
It happens all the time when I take my benzo to sleep, and then either wake up early or have too few hours sleep.
It also comes and goes throught the day.

The only time the zaps go away is when I take my meds properly.

Brain zaps are also commonly associated with SSRI discontinuation syndrome, though I can't tell if these are the same things that you are experiencing.

I experience it too, if I don't sleep on my hypnotics.
40mg Diazepam is kinda a hypnotic dose in my books.
So it does happen.

Edit: We are talking "zaps" here, not "brain zaps". Zaps are like the grandchildren of "brain zaps", if you know what I'm trying to say.

Brain zaps are "high voltage", crippling and last a lot longer in duration and are normally associated with withdrawal.

What the OP is describing is more of a side effect at normal dosages (almost like a "charged" vertigo feeling).

It isn't easy to put into words, but I'm sure there are many of you out there that know what I am trying to share.

i used to call them brain zaps...only got them when WDing from benzos

Are you taking any other medications/drugs other than diazepam 40mg? How is the diazepam dosed? All 40mg in the morning?
