Although it takes extreme amounts of LSD to overdose, you can still overdue it and it WILL become serious. When someone starts tripping a lot in a short amount of time, psychosis can become a serious side-effect. I have done quite a bit of LSD. I took 7-10 hits at a time to start. I have since then quit because I have seen it rear it's dangerous side. Occasionally is okay, but it done on a regular basis in large quanities, you are sure to suffer the consequenses. Psychosis is a very serious condition in which one begins to loose their perception of reality, almost like a person suffering from scitzophrenia. Persons suffering from scitzophrenia appear to be living in a bad trip. Imagine that your flashbacks become so prevelent that it takes over your daily activites, your thoughts and perceptions? I have seen it happen people, be careful!!! I have seen very intelligent individuals begin to believe that their friends have magical powers and their friends were posessed by Satan and Demons. This wouldn't sound all that abnormal for LSD except for these were things being said when the person WASN'T tripping!!!! This person honestly belived in these ythings and began to live out of fear because of them. Please be careful!!!! It can happen to anyone!!!

Actually my friends father is a psychiatrist and he goes to these annual meetings where neurobiologists, psychologists, and psychiatrists meet up and discuss new theories and things. And a large percent of them were working on a theory that completely disproved the fact that LSD triggers psychosis in certain individuals.

Well, some of actually *DO* have magic powers!

I agree with your thoughts on overdoing it with LSD. I love acid, and at times have been known to trip more than I know I should. I suggest that anyone who trips on a regular basis schedule "clean-out" breaks of at least a few weeks. It is amazing how much smarter you can suddenly feel after abstaining from drugs for a decent period of time - More often you look back and are amazed by how DUMBED DOWN you DIDN'T realize you actually were!
Remember, just because a drug isn't neurotoxic doesn't mean it doesn't have serious side effects. Chemically speaking, LSD has proven to be fairly safe at typical (or even very high) tripping doses - but keep in mind that the "mind" and the "brain" are two different but very real things - and long term effects can be the product of either chemical or emotional trama.

Not all individuals will expierience psychosis. It's somewhat like people who are vulnerable to those sorts of things and the funny thing is you can't know your vulnerable until it's too late. If acid is done in moderation, it should be okay, but I personally know someone who in a 4 month frame, consumed over 300 hits of acid and this individual is now in psychosis. It isn't something that will last forever, but the next 3-6 months for this individual will be VERY DIFFICULT and VERY SCARY!! That is why it's just safe to be cautious and USE MODERATION or this could happen and it's not only scary for the person going through it, but also for the friends and family of the person.

I know people who've done 300 hits in a two week span and are perfectly normal. Pretty much every psychologist, psychiatrist, doctor, etc. will tell you that they disagree with your theory. But it seems you've changed your theory to people who were probably fucked up in the head to begin with.
Well, who cares? This belongs in Medical, anyway.

Surely they wouldn't be smart individuals if they did so much LSD at one time/did it so often....?
And you're trying to tell me you STARTED on 7-10 hits of LSD?

I wouldn't blame it on the acid. I think acid just brings out your crazy side faster (if its in your genes).
When I was 14 I used to see this devil shadow creature in my door every night. Sure, it definitely scared me. This was before I tried acid. Now a little while after this, I tried acid for the first time (I know What a wonderful move, starting drugs when your 14...but nevermind that I can't change the past). The creature went away a little after I took acid....but why?
I don't really know....sure, I saw lots of other hallucinations after that but they didn't scare me anymore because everyone always said "Oh its because of the acid".
I was schizo (dont know how to spell sorry) before the acid. Sure, I'm a bit crazier now, and maybe I wouldn't be as crazy if I hadn't taken acid. But do I really care? No. After awhile you get used to it...it can be rather entertaining. Would I change the past if I could?
HELL NO! I wouldn't give up acid for anything.....acid is like my favorite vacation..my other world. but is it a way of life? of course not. its just a way to have fun!

lots of it. and worth that little psychotic side effect.

I believe that everyone should give acid a try... cept maybe this one dude I met in college... his name was John and he was really into hypnotism... John was convinced that if he could experience a drug, he could replicate the experience thru hypnotic suggestion... sounds pretty fucking cool... the only thing is that John's mom is seriously schizophrenic and John hears voices. Kinda like his conscience telling him what and what not to do... this boy is crazy, but does a good job hiding it... i suggested that he not try acid. He seems to be the type who'd be prone to unleashing dormant psychosis...
if you're willing to overdo it with psychedelics (7-10 hits to start)... you deserve what you get... acid is not a toy
Just say know!

I am not trying to tell people acid is bad, I DID start on 7-10 hits, well the first time I ever tripped, I did 4 hits of liquid Timothy Leary and I was FUCKED!! I have learned a lot about my head being on acid. BUT it is a PROVEN fact that LSD can bring on periods of psychosis. This individual was not a fucked up person at all and of all the acid he did, he NEVER had shitty acid. It was always shit like Timothy Leary and Alice in Wonderland. Not everyone will get to a stage of psychosis, but think of the shit you have thought of and seen while trippin your balls off AND then think of all the flashbacks you get. Some people actually do get flashbacks SO bad and SO often they start to have trouble distinguishing reality from a flashback. You guys can think I'm crazy if you want, but there is truth to this. I have almost finished my Bacholers in Psychology and my main focus is Psychiatry. What I am saying is not some theory I made up.

This is a pretty pointless post - if you didn't already know that ANY drug you try has the potential to lead you to cuckoo land then you shouldn't be taking that drug.
LSD isn't the only substance that is suggested to cause psychosis - meth/amphetamines are just as bad if not worse.
If you're not moronic and take "7-10 hits" then you should be ok -- I'm no doctor though but I do have a LOT of personal experience in this matter.

Dude...I did some Timothy Leary's and some Alice in Wonderland's, too. They were so much better than the Spiderman's and...
Wait a minute...BRANDS DON'T MEAN SHIT!
Why doesn't anyone understand that this holds true for drugs OTHER than ecstasy?

I have to back up Sherbert Ass on this one. Meth, in all its forms, will fuck your world. I though that by quiting MDMA I will get away from depression and depersanalization. I though "its cool to do some meth while out drinking" or "why not do some ice to stay up a while and work". But let me tell you, from no other drug have I had so much psychosis and depression.... And by no standards do I do large quanteties. Can't remember what acid does to your sanity any more, cuz its been too long, but I know meth is not too healthy for your mind.

Wow.....acid has designer names now?
Christ.
hun, i don't really understand your logic or reason for writing this post. To sum it all up...give the people on this board some credit....we're not morons.
I know drugs aren't good for my body (or mind) but ya know what? Oh well. Moderation. And these "flashbacks" ya know...most people that have done acid don't get "flashbacks" and if they do, its nothing terrifying or discomforting. Sure, some people do.....but a small percentage. I've NEVER had a "flashback" and I've done acid very many times.....
You don't really sound like you know what you're talking about. Go do some more research on LSD. You'll learn a whole lot, cause right now, you sound like you are just talking out of ur ass.

I have always understood that the only way LSD could bring about any kind of psychosis is if the condition was pre-existing (although it may have not surfaced before the time of usage.)
I may be wrong on this but in a lot of ways it does make sence.
Also... if you're taking 7-10 hits at a time, I wouldn't be suprised at all if something unpleasent happens. It may not cause a permanent psychological disorder, but the experience may be quiet unpleasant.
If you're not getting really low grade stuff (like 40ug hits), you're really not going to trip all that much harder by taking more, you're just going to experience all of the inherient down sides of LSD. Doing more than you need doesn't make you cool, it just exposes your ignorance.
