I thought i would post this here because i know a lot of people pre-load with piracetam before using MDMA. I don't know exactly what to think of this email. I thought I would post it here for you guys to read :]

I recently ordered some piracetam online from a reliable site (i already received my product also btw) and i just got an email from the site stating

"The FDA has recently informed retailers and distributors that Piracetam is being marked as a drug. That it is not legal to sell as a dietary supplement. (insert website name here) was informed of this on Monday August 30th, 2010. We have been given 15 days to respond to this letter from the FDA. During that time we will be running a sale to blow through our inventory. All piracetam products are now having additional 20% off until we run out! Discounts are taken at check out.

We will continue to update you as soon as we get more information. Here are the products affected: (insert link)"

Thoughts?

Does this mean that companies can still sell it, just not as a 'dietary supplement'? Or would you have to get a prescription for it? or what?

Here's another thread on this: http://www.bluelight.ru/vb/showthread.php?t=522103

Check out the link to the PDF near the bottom of the thread, too. After reading it, I'm convinced that this isn't a "new law" as the email says, but simply a violation by this particular seller of an existing law (that is, of incorrectly labeling it). I'm not sure how you would properly label it, since it doesn't fall into any of the categories for an acceptable supplement, but that's another matter...perhaps he could sell it as plant food? :p

thanks. I did not notice that thread and i apologize for not searching harder.

Heh, no need to apologize; it took me a while to find it, too.

Anyway, I do agree that this is annoying and at worst a scary precedent, but it's not like Piracetam has been scheduled (as he seems to be suggesting in his email). He wouldn't be able to have a 20% sale if it were. 8)

The FDA loves flexing their muscle and making a big deal because they're bored. Piracetam will still be sold, it just can't be sold for human consumption as it's not an approved dietary supplement =P

It's pretty stupid that you can't market Piracetam as dietary supplement. It's used in this manner in several places around the world. In Ukraine, you can actually buy Piracetam as regular OTC medication in any drug store. I believe it's the same in Russia and many other European countries.

It's also pretty well tolerated and definitely work. I guess the FDA has to protect their buddies from large pharmaceutical companies and keep people using speed/benzos and other trash that never really solves any problems.

The notion that you can solve something like anxiety/depression with a pill is beyond ridiculous.

You can't market things as food or drugs in the USA without FDA approval. You can sell raw chemical materials that are not scheduled or otherwise regulated though. They'd have to schedule piracetam to stop people from selling 1kg tubs with a "not for human consumption" disclaimer. Things like piracetam pills have always been illegal in the USA as far as I'm concerned; they just didn't crack down on it for a long time, much like the sale of poppy pods (considered Schedule II poppy straw technically).

Are you sure it's been illegal? Because I've found multiple stores in my local area that have it sitting on their shelves XD
Either way i think this blows.

Anyone who likes it should stock up now!! Smart Powders is having 20% off sale...so get on it! It didn't do squat for me.....prefer Ani and Oxiracetam with Alpha GPC

i just ordered 2 bottles of oxiracetam, 1 bottle of piracetam and 1 bottle of choline & insolitol

I wonder if the attention to piracetam is in any way related to the fact that it's being used to potentiate amphetamines?

I ordered some, but again, unless it becomes a scheduled drug, I'm not to worried about piracetam disappearing entirely.

A lot of people who have had brain surgery have benefited and recovered tremendously because of piracetam- it's a shame they're "cracking down" on it. =/

Ordered a couple large bottles anyway....
