I have a lot of great memories with her, pretty much all the best are of traveling, in tents, by lakes, slogging over mountain passes, laying in fields of flowers, sharing nature. Impossible
to choose the best.
One that comes to mind is a backpacking trip we did on the John Muir Trail from Yosemite to Mt Whitney. 200 miles and 3 weeks of hiking up and down over big passes with heavy packs. Rain, hail, lightning, exhaustion, blisters, mosquitos, nothing but backpacking food everyday. But, of course, sun and beauty, too. On her birthday I broke out a little mini bday cake that I had carried hidden for a week.
Anyhow, adversity can make for arguments and being sick of each other, but that didn't happen. Through it all, we stayed happy and kind in each other's company, which is really all I could ask for. I always tell her she's my favorite person to hike with, which is my highest praise.
