I like many of John Lydon's quotes, really. I like him because he's so brilliant and seems like a really good person behind the image. You can tell he's completely sane and just putting on an act.

What I mean is he acts and talks in a way that is considered socially crazy but he's obviously not neurologically crazy. Scarily intelligent. Couldn't keep up with that.

But God, if he didn't scare me as a child. There is such an intensity, aggression, and convincing madness about him. And he's really something different. Too powerful as a personality to feel comfortable. One of my favourite people, but so unique he might as well be an alien.

I think you are reading too much into FZ's sarcasm. He was most likely criticizing the direction he felt rock was headed. It's no accident Zappa had several albums call Shut Up and Play Your Guitar. He was all about the music. In that quote, Zappa was making fun of the uniforms you speak of.

bob hunter, and it was. jerry only wrote the words to 1 dead song (though he wrote the music for almost all the songs with words by hunter).

that song was "cream puff war", which fell out of the repertoire very early
