football pre-season is well underway. regular season starts on september 10th. that means fantasy! i am psyched for this year. who are some players you'll be targeting in your draft this year, beyond 'the usual suspects'?

qb: assuming you're not in a position to get your hands on rodgers or luck, there seem to be a lot of solid fantasy options to be had by waiting: eli manning and ryan tannehill look like they'll both have great years. ben roethlisbergeris always a solid fantasy option. i think that bridgewater, bradford and palmer could do well for a manager who waits this year.

rb: the studs here are obvious. i think cj anderson and jeremy hill are both top 10 this year. latavius murray and justin forsett are attractive and guys like chris ivory and doug martin could surprise. i play in a ppr so i also like guys like shane vereen and danny woodhead.

wr: so many options this year. so much promise! again, everybody knows the studs so finding value here will be key. i like jordan matthews, amari cooper, allen robinson, stevie johnson and charles johnson.

te: i'll be looking for value here too: tyler eifert; kyle rudolph; seferian-jenkins all on the radar.

def: i ted to stream defenses pretty loosly but its' good to have a regular d. my top 3 all-round defenses are probably: bills; rams; texans. panthers also look good. i've used the eagles d a lot in the last two seasons - they give up a fair amount of points but they score points too.

what you got?

some sleepers for yall zzzzzzz

QB - Teddy Bridgewater (dat running TDs)
RB - Bryce Brown
WR - Nelson Agholar
TE - Austin Sefarian - Jenkins
Defense / Special Teams - EAGLES

I know the eagles D is questionable but I have a good feeling about this group. They are really hard to run against and were 2nd in the league in sacks last year. I wouldnt start them against teams with solid passing games as they will probably be in some shootouts because of chip kelly's style of play but against run-oriented teams they will be a good pick and you can probably pick them up in a later round because they gave up a lot of points last year

but their special teams was ridiculous last year too, actually won a few games solely because of special teams. Darren Sproles is still one of the best punt returners in the league and Cody Parkey was 33/36 on fgs last year iirc

not a bad group

I like Bryce Brown because Shady McCoy is already hurt and someone has to carry the ball in Rex Ryan's offense. I think this is finally the year Bryce Brown has a 1,000 yard season and everyone will have drafted McCoy like good little sheeple

Sefarian - Jenkins because Jameis Winston will probably use the TE a lot as they are really helpful for rookie QBs who may not want to take too many chances and go with a reliable throw and catch to his 6'5 TE over tryng to squeeze something into either Mike Evans or Vincent Jackson (who are also tall as fuck)

Agholar looks like he can be just as good as DeSean Jackson was for the Eagles in the speed receiver role

Seriously though, I've been so wrapped up in this QB competition in Buffalo I haven't had any time to do my pre-draft research. Besides all the usual suspects/top 5 players at each position I have no idea who I'm going to be targeting yet. I guess I better get to studying. I did terrible last year in my work league after winning the bowl the year before. The fallen must rise!

I wish I could grab the Bills defense but there's always one or two guys in the office that draft all the good Bills players way too early. So Sammy Watkins, Bills defense, LeSean McCoy, etc. will all be gone before I'd be willing to pick them. I always makes sure to have at least 1 Bills player on my team though. It'll probably be a late round pick like Robert Woods or something this season.

i drafted on saturday. here it is:

qb: andrew luck
rb: marshawn lynch
rb: latavius murray
wr: jordan matthews
wr: julian edelman
wr: keenan allen
te: tyler eifert

def: miami
bn: john brown
bn: alfred blue
bn: charles johnson
bn: danny woodhead
bn: breshad perriman

yahoo said i had the worst draft of my 10-team league but i think i did fine and my team has a lot of promise.

bummed to not get josh hill and amari cooper. i've had jordy nelson the last two years and feel bad for him but glad i didn't snag him :)

thoughts?

Both 10 man leagues, top one is .5 ppr. Top league is $100 buy in, bottom is $50. My work league is drafting next week. HYYYYYPE.

Alasdair im not too high on anyone on your team outside of Luck and Lynch tbh. Especially Matthews and Edelman at anywhere close to their ADP.

maybe. i tend to draft a little bit by ranking and a little bit by players i have a good gut feeling about. sure, matthews, edelman and allen are hardly julio jones in fantasy ranking terms but i think that matthews is going to have a great year, edelman is always a solid ppr choice and i see him continuing to contribute this season. same with allen.

i really had a big boner for amari cooper and would have been happy to pick him up early. he was ranked about #60 and somebody in our league took him at #41.

you have to take a flier on some guys when drafting. i mean, last year, who was drafting beckham jr.? or justin forsett?

I think I got two steals in my draft. Got Lynch at 26 which considering some places had him as high as 5, seems nice but my league has two weekly QB spots, no mandatory TE (lumped together with WR), and other wacky shit, I wasnt so suprised. But at pick 66 I was looking WR and was shocked when I saw Sammy Watkins still there. This is also a 1pt PPR league and you get bonuses for breaking 100 and 175 yards, so have no idea why CBSsports had him ranked so low, but worked in my favor.

Roster

QB Peyton Manning
QB Ryan Tannehill
RB Marshawn Lynch
WR Emmanuel Sanders
WR Sammy Watkins
WR Keenan Allen
FLEX Eddy Lacy
D/ST Vikings
K Brandon McManus

Bench

QB Nick Foles
RB Ameer Abdullah
WR Victor Cruz
WR Larry Fitzgerald
TE Kyle Rudolph
WR Vincent Jackson

Wish I had one more established RB who catches passes but overall I am happy.

lynch at 26 is insane. especially as you have lacy too...

for pass-catching rbs is danny woodhead available in your league? sproles? what about david johnson in arizon? might be a week or two for him but i'd never trust ellington again after having been burned by him a couple of times...

They all are. Leaning towards Sproles as he has done good for me in the past, but I could get by with what I have. We only have to start one RB and the flex can be RB/WR/TE. Probably going to wait and see how my players progress as I doubt all three will be claimed and there is always some guy who comes out of nowhere. But good on the tip.

Would you take him over any of my reserve WR/TE? Rudolph would most likely be the one I drop, but Minnesota's receiving corp isn't particularly strong, and Bridgewater has to throw to somebody.

i'd take him over all those guys. i think rudolph will have a good year - it was between him and tyler eifert for me as 'value' tight ends in my other league. but danny woodhead is a points machine in sd.
