Hi
Do eye floaters go away when not stressed or depressed. I am trying to recover from dabbling with legal smokes. I think the smoke might have brought them on. I have a lot of anxiety and worry. I am also having a bad day and I need a little help. Thanks.

i dont think you have anything to worry about, i forget heheh, but there is a natural normal reason for them.

you may become more aware of their presence, if you are the intense focusing type while in such states, and while taking extra note, in such a state it could easily become a distraction, an undermined obsession, or bothersome compulsion, if you know what i mean.

when did you smoke them last.? the herbal cigs.

Hi
3 months ago along with weed and low grade hash. I have stopped using everything. It was 3 months after I stopped when I started to notice them. The bad experience with the legal smokes turned me into a hypochondriac type person. I now imagine myself to have all sorts of things from the legal smokes. HPPD, depression you name it. The hypochondria is obviously causing stress.

Eye floaters do not "go away" on their own. Wikipedia happens to have a surprisingly thorough article about them: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Floater

If you are experiencing impeded vision or are concerned you should see an optometrist for an eye examination.

Floaters are remnants of cells basically in the vitreous humour which is the gelly part of your eye. Theyre completely normal, and many times psychedelic states make you notice things/pay attention to things youve never seen before, but theyve been there all along. Nothing harmful about them, Ive always hated how if you let your eye sit still they float to the bottom of your field of vision but if you try and focus on them they get higher every time you move your eyes. That annoys the fuck out of me

I've had this happen in the past. While it wasn't anything that was impairing my vision, I did all of a sudden become aware of them. They seemed to have disappeared though, or maybe I just forgot about them? Anywho, like graugeist said, if its impacting your vision and becoming bothersome, then definitely go get an eye examination just to be sure.

I agree you should get it checked out.

I have the same problem-
I get them when I'm anxious, when I'm not and when I'm hypoglycemic.
Not a whole lot to do about them for myself, but I'd see a professional just to be sure its nothing serious......that's always a good idea! :)

Sounds to me like it might be stress-related. Take a good note of how you're feeling, and what you're thinking about, when these visual effects set in. If they're impairing you (or if stress or anxiety in general are), definitely see a doctor.

A few years ago I got this thing called Iritis where the inside of your pupil gets swollen, basically it's similar to glaucoma. I woke up one day and my vision was blurry in one eye and by the end of the day I couldn't even see out of it. I went to the ER and they called in an Opthalmologist who immediately knew what was happening and prescribed me the appropriate medication and within minutes my vision went back to normal.

Ever since then I have been hyper aware of those floaters that you are talking about, especially in my left eye where I had the Iritis. There were a couple of days where I got really freaked out about them and went to the Opthalmologist to have him check my eye out and he said they were completely normal, I was just over focusing on them.

Anyway, I never knew they could be exacerbated by stress and anxiety and what not, that makes a lot of sense. I still have them, even worse in my left eye, but I've learned to ignore them for the most part and barely ever notice them.

I guess if you're really worried about them go and get it checked out but I do know that they are normal. However if you start losing vision in one of your eyes like I did get to the doctor ASAP! Man, that whole ordeal scared the shit out of me, I thought I had a brain tumor or something. I was so relieved when they found out what it was.

Pretty much this. Floaters are parts of a vein that connected your retina to the forward part of your eye. When these veins degrade as they are no longer useful, they float in your vitrious humor which is the liquid inside of your eye. It's not like they manifest more or less over time, its just a question of noticing them more, as they're pretty much always there.

I have a pretty bad case of eye-floaters, almost like cities and strings of them, big patches. They only impede my vision SLIGHTLY though if I'm not trying to focus on them. I don't think they ever go away, but if you stop thinking about them and looking at them, you shouldn't notice anything unless it's one of the WORST cases of them, as from what I can see my case is on the bad side for sure.

Hi
I didn't notice them when I was smoking weed, low grade hash and legal smokes. It was about 3 months after the awful experience with the legal smoke that I noticed them. I was hypochondriac for about 3 months, looking out for any health changes in my eyes. I taught my vision was blurred after the legal smoke experience, you see. Then one day I went for a walk and I just became aware of them. I am sure that I became aware of them because of the hyper vigilance.

Most likely.

I get the eye floaties, too, and it gets super annoying if I can't keep from focusing on them. I agree with the people above that suggested getting an eye exam, especially if it starts drastically affecting your vision. Here is one thing that I noticed that helps quite a bit. My floaters are always more noticeable when I am stepping out in the bright sunlight or super bright artificial light........and again when I go from brightness back into a darker room. I have occasionally used sunglasses when having to deal with bright lights and, on the days where I actually remember to wear the sunglasses, the floaters are much less bothersome. Or really anything that will allow you to gradually go from darker rooms to bright sunlight and back will probably help too.

Hyper vigilance about one's health SUCKS!!! I don't get that way normally but when I have a panic attack the hyper vigilant thing sends me into this freaked out spiral of panic and dread. I notice every little thing with my body's reaction to the anxiety and start freaking out even worse than I was to begin with because I am convinced that I'm going to have a heart attack, or my breathing will stop, etc. I hope this doesn't sound really strange or crazy. But, in my own way I guess, I can definitely sympathize with the whole hyper-vigilant thing.

I think anyone with anxiety can sympathize with you on that one.

Hi
I went to get my eyes checked and she said they were normal. If I get more of them, I'm to go back to her. I still feel a little weird after 4 months of quitting. I am just worried all the time about my health and a whole load of other stuff. I am sure it's the anxiety that is causing it. I wish I had never touched the stuff.

Oh squiggly line in my eye fluid.
I see you lurking there on the periphery of my vision.
But when I try to look at you, you scurry away.
Are you shy, squiggly line?
Why only when I ignore you, do you return to the center of my eye?
Oh, squiggly line,
it's alright, you are forgiven.

Hi
I have eye floaters. I noticed them 3 months after quitting everything. I know I have asked this question before. I am hopeing to catch more fish to see what they have to say about my little/big problem. I don't seem to have any other visual symtoms. At night my room looks a bit grainy; the same as if I closed my eyes. People tell me this is normal? I felt freaked out because the of the bad experience with the legal smokes and I know I became a total hypochondriac. So I was stressed and depressed. It was in this sate that I noticed the floaters.
Would you reckon that this is anxiety related? I did'nt feel myself for months after I quit.
Would I need more symtoms to qualify for HPPD?
