Finding new lows.
Linky to the first iteration

So I've been thinking about possibly taking up fitness/exercise/bodybuilding or whatever to aid in restoring my Endogenous Morphine production post being a Smackhead, any advice for someone with the frame of a Junkie with a stim problem who stands only barely above Joe Pesci?

Start small, focus on calisthenics. I do 20 pushups, hold my legs five inches off the ground while supine for two minutes at a time with one minute rest spells, 20 situps, 30 crunches, 30 squats and thirty more push ups to finish.

Takes twenty minutes and covers all basics. I have no interest in bodybuilding or looking buff, but like to have a trim and functional figure. I'm around 187cm and 85kg.

Eat three times a day, even if you have to force it and don't eat shite every day.

bodybuilding.com is a good site to look into. Don't get too carried away too soon with fad workout programmes - waste of time. Someone once said to me, just the fact you put the effort into trying is better than doing nothing. They were right. Diet is key, you need to be eating more calories than your burning, a surplus of 500 is a good amount.

Diet composing of as close to 40/40/20 carbs/protein/fat is optimum (although some say higher in the way of carbs). It's worth working out a couple of staple meals you will eat each day, then also eating around them. I find 5 meals a day is better than 3 personally.

To start off I would just aim to find form, and if it's to pack on a bit of size focus on your compound lifts -deadlifts, squats, bench press. Just a cheapo £50 set up from Argos is more than enough for most to see improvement. It will keep you from wanting more stimulants a bit maybe (Meth is not included). ;)

Join a gym and find someone who can mentor you. Doesn't have to necessarily be a personal trainer, just someone that knows their shit. That saved me a lot of frustration. Or you could take a strength training class depending on where you live

Well, don't spend any money on getting exercise! Chances are, you are already spending money on not getting exercise somewhere (for example, driving instead of walking); so if you can save some of that money and get the exercise instead, then it's effectively coming in cheaper than free!

I'm good cheers! I just ran 13.8km in 1hr12 (third longest run ever for me); now my legs hurt a bit. But since both the health thread and the pain thread are out of action, I have to post about it here :p MOD'S NOTE: fixed now

How you doing?

That's quite an impressive time if you didn't make it up.

What the fuck are they doing with that thread?? Don't make me delete gibz again ;)

No my healthy living thread is nothing to do with the pain thread - they're completely different topics. My thread is about exercise n leading a healthier lifestyle with exercise (like Josh has been doing) n about eating healthily, stuff like that.

Mugz thread (which was re-named from pain major or minor to Health, sickness n pain is a completely DIFFERENT subject. It's for people to discuss their pain difficulties whether they're seen as real bad or not.

Please put my thread bacause it's very important to me n something I tried hard ro build as a necessarily tool for people in EADD as well as myself who is currently struggly with my own healthy living. The subjects are too complex to be merged.

Pleased don't take this the wrong way but as constructive criticism (yes I know I find it difficult to take criticism myself etc lol) but just bevause thread titles have similar words in them doesn't mean thv similar topics n need merging. It may just may be that a title of one thread needs changing - like my world thread were completely different but had a similar title n Paigey request with the Terrorm attacks in France.(by the way I made a thread ask people's views as a lot of people moaned about that merge, to try n save the mods some work n yet hardly anyone has replied / participated in it).

Maybe I pver-reacted with this thread since my auntie is a body builder n has just come third Miss World over 50s in Italy (im very proud of her) but I'm concerned people will no longer post in the Healthy Living thread. Please, please, please can I have my thread back? <3

If you want me to do that, you will have to PM me a list of which message numbers in the new, combined thread were in which of the two original, separate threads. I managed to get Sprout's ones because they were fairly obvious; but I never spent much time in either of those other two threads, and so would not have a clue by myself which message came from where.

Can't you just unmerge it? Thats going to take ages

Mine was linked on the index im partially sighted i havent all day to di that why wasn't my thread just left alone? Surely if the mods made the mistake they should fix it? No?

Unmerging is not a feature we have.
Trust me, the Mod team is and has been attempting to sort it for a while, unfortunately I was otherwise engaged with things like sleep and normal stuff for a few hours last night.
I also have things to do today, as does everyone, but once I'm done with the real world I will personally comb through it for you.

Shit happens, we sort it, just some times it can take a little while. :)

The link in the Index points to a now non-existent target. I'm not certain what the forum software does in that case but it's probably smart enough to divert it to the combined thread.

Anyway, the problem faced by mods right now is that there is no way to determine from the one combined thread, which of the separate threadx each message needs to be put back into; since this information was lost when the threads were merged.

I dont understand why they were merged since mugz pain thread has nothing whatsoever to do with healthy living n exercise. I'm gutted over this since it's not easy to make thread on a mobile having a sight issue for them to just grt merged all the the time.

I get asked by staff here to make threads to try n bring in new members. I take the time to do this n then they're merged, ruined or closed. I honestly cannot win whatever I try to do here. You surely cannot be being funny with me here for asking for it to be repaired when it wasn't my mistake????

Anyway I've a poorly child here so will see ya all later xxxxx

PS i'm not trying to be argumentative here just trying to express how I feel <3

This was 100% my attitude - bulk up, release the endolphinins, zone out, get serious with Ron.

Paid membership, Got the £70 sacks of protein, creatine ad BCAA's, downloaded 'The Max Muscle Plan' by Brad Schofield. And have not been even once. Over-complicated it, should just have tried doing something, anything - Instead I somehow enrolled in a sports science degree. But I can be compulsive...

So any advice I have is don't go ball's deep in paraphernalia - also one tip outta the book, if you like, is find early what breaks you, then do a sets of 75% reps. Just like I did... :)
