got this stuff prescribed along with my depakote (1500 mg/day) for severe anxiety and temporal lobe epilepsy (no seizures, just anxiety and paranoia).
i'm aware that it's not a very well known benzo, it goes by the brand name "victan". anyway, although it's a little underdosed for my anxiety, it has helped a lot unlike all other ssri's/snri's/wellbutrin/antipsychotics. i'd compare it to the sedation of .5 mg of xanax but with more anxiety relief.
anyway, doc said i'm supposed to be on this long-term since no other med has been of any use. i'm aware benzo's in the long term are BAAAD, but i have no choice. my questions:
i've read online that although tolerance to benzo's sedative effects builds up, tolerance to the anxiolytic effects don't? is this true? if i take 4 mg/day and receive full relief of symptoms, would this be a good dose to stay at for the rest of my life?
my other question is that since this drug's half life is 51-103 hours, does this mean it'll build up in my system until it reaches a peak level in my blood? in other words, will i feel more relief as days go by?
my last question is, that if this doesn't work for me in the long run due to tolerance, would tianeptine be a good alternative? does tolerance build to tianeptine's anxiolytic effects? is there any drug that will provide long-term anxiety relief?
seriously... sometimes i think the only way to get any relief is a bullet to the head...
