I know this post may better belong in the 'spirituality' section, but given how many more people seem to read threads in the 'psychedelic' section, I thought it would be worth it to post here.

Anyway. I'm curious what others think about energy. About seeing it, feeling it, using it, manipulating it, etc. I was never before a believer in energy existing all around us and being able to do anything with it, but I've had a couple of drug-related experiences that have prompted me to reconsider my disbelief. The first time was during an acid trip. Probably my best acid trip to date, (although only done it 4 times), and the first time I really felt it. It was during a music festival, and I remember SEEING energy vividly for the first time. While dancing and watching others dance, instead of just seeing a bunch of bodies moving around to music I saw the energy being moved in different ways by each individual, as they swayed their arms and legs, curled their hands through the air. This first experience caused me to start thinking about energy in a different way.

The second experience I had was much more powerful. I was high/coming down off DXM. Not intensely high, but it was definitely still in my system. My gf was having a negative side effect to the DXM, and was experiencing muscle spasms. (Please refrain from lecturing me on dangerous drug use here, I realize muscle spasms are cause for concern but it's unrelated to the point of my thread.) Anyway, she said she was feeling too much energy in her body from the spasms, and she asked me to try to drain the energy from her. I had never done this before, but she held her hands up to mine, and showed me how to open my palms. I had no idea what I was doing, but somehow, it worked. My hands started to vibrate, faster and faster. I didn't tell them to vibrate, this all happened unconsciously, they just did it. The intensity of the vibration increased and continued for about 15-20 seconds, until I stopped, exhausted. I was tired and out of breath, and I had to lie down. She had stopped spasming completely. The spasms never returned after that. After talking to a friend who does Reiki, he told me I didn't do it quite right. I should have dispelled the energy into the air rather than take it into myself. But nonetheless, what I did clearly worked and was real.

I have never been able to 'heal' via energy, see energy, or manipulate energy since then. I still believe it is real and all around us, and all of the circumstances in which individuals have been healed by Reiki are further proof that this is real, and whether psychological or scientific - it works. I'm curious what other people think about energy. How do you harness it, and see it when in a sober state? My friend told me you have to believe it is there in order to make use of it. But the only times I could believe it were on acid and DXM. I don't know how to make myself believe it when sober, or even high on pot. I feel like it's out of my control. But I really want to learn. I don't want those moments in time to be my only experience with energy because it is so powerful what people can do with it! My friend told me of a woman who cured someone's migraine in seconds, just by using her hands and dispelling the bad energy. Anyway. Enough rambling. Tell me what you think and know on the topic.

Never really had any experience with what you're talking about, however, not sure if it's placebo or not but if you put your palms flat together there is a slight repelling force between them. Something to do with your Chi's flow.

Warning - pick up line: "you have a lot of energy."

custard: try a high dose of mescaline, and look at some Alex Grey artwork, particularly the Sacred Mirrors and the Lateralus album artwork. If you're anything like me, it will skyrocket your understanding of what 'energy' is.

Just because more people might see it here doesn't mean this is the right place for it. I understand your reasoning, but if it worked like this - everything would just get posted in the most populated forums, or related forums, and it would be a great big mess. We have the separate sections for a good reason :)

Since you're new here I've left a redirection link that'll stay for a couple of days - that way it's easier for you to find this again, and as a consequence you still achieve what you aimed for by posting it in PD, as for the next couple of days people here will see the thread. Please try post in the correct sections in future though, you can always link the thread in PD social or something if you want us to check it out :D <3

PD -> Philosophy and Spirituality

---

As for my own reply. I'm interested in the subject myself, I can't offer a whole lot though, but I've tried several interesting exercises that have created a sort of force or energy that feels like it begins to fill me, and leaves me feeling great and rejuvenated all day long. I wouldn't know what to call it, or how it works though :)

Just to be clear: keep the discussion in the context of tripping please, otherwise this indeed does belong in another forum like suggested in the OP. If we'd just anything and everything in PD the place would explode and would become unmanageable for the crew.
edit:
LOL okay two mod decisions at the exact same time - well both decisions integrated put it like this: if you want to have a discussion on the topic in PD you need to make it about psychedelics and changes in perception that involve sensing energy. It's certainly a valid subject, in fact you may wanna use the search engine to check if there isn't already a thread on it.

^^ Sorry Solipsis I already moved this before you hit submit. Didn't want it to get too off-topic. Could always be moved back if he wants to change the line of discussion to related to tripping only though, or he could even make a new thread on that particular subject. :)

If you dont think your own personal energy can be manipulated in such a way as to manipulate the world around you, you are quite deceived.

Come spar with my kung fu school sometime :) We will be glad to show you how to use chi to destroy a human body, and to heal one as well.

we are all bio electric beings. solids, liquids, gasses, these are illusions that our senses trick our minds to percieve, and narrow our perception of the world around us. The very electro-magnetic vibration of the Earth can be channeled through the human body, honed and focused, and delivered to a single tiny point. The same is true for our foods, often in the West we consume foods which are 0mhz in frequency, known as "dead food." Live foods, rife with enzymes and absorbable nutrients, have frequencies of 20hz - 200hz, with some essential oils in excess of 300hz (seriously, why do you think theyre so anti-pathogenic? Frequencies such as this arent very friendly to harmful microorganisms). Go stand on a cement floor for a few hours when you have a lot of energy, and youll feel quite drained. Stand on the raw Earth, barefoot, and notice you do not. The same is true for a car battery, how often do you see a car battery on the cement floor of a car repair shop?

Have you ever slept in a Jungle? The sheer denseness of biological diversity and population is radiating far more energy than most environments on Earth, and simply being in such an environment can heal and strengthen the body. Likewise, the toxic pollutants and overwhelming positive ionic charge of urban life drains the vitality, and reduces cellular vibrational frequencies. Its proven science that being in any forest raises the body's NK Cell count.

Electro Magnetic force is the fundamental essense of life, the animation that transmits the will of the soul through the body.

^So from that logic, wouldn't it be relatively more energetic/beneficial for a person to be in, say, The Big Apple, than a city approximately 6 times less populous such as Rochester, NY? In that case I'm merely biding my time and gathering necessary funds before I can go there and really get off the ground.

I have a question, would a person well trained in the art of manipulating this energy be able to tell what my weak points are? I have a knee that locks up, and I have asthma, would a person able to utilize this energy be able to tell that there's something amiss with those parts of my body without the use of modern Western medical techniques? I just told my suboxone doctor to fuck off, in so many words, does kung-fu have any sort of relief to offer someone in the early stages of crawling out of their skin?

Flickering: Many of my friends have raved about Alex Grey but I have yet to explore him. Def on the to-do list, though. Also, not sure where I can get mescaline in these parts, but lucy's around.

rm-rf: thanks for your words. they interest and intrigue me. I have never been to the jungle but I would love to experience that. THere is so much going on everywhere that we cannot see. I just wish I could see it. But I will check out the link. Which is your kung fu school? what is a good way to learn about chi? I also think I'm gonna try a meditation class; perhaps that will help build my awareness.

hello custard :) this should be of use to you, we all have as you are aware and as rm-rf described our own EMF, Prana, etc. well this "field" is contained with in a sphere that surrounds us, to varying extents individually.

the Merkabah, is very real, and more us then our bodies to keep...this many of us have experienced at different times, i have and do meditating, while on psychedelics numerous times, dreaming/waking, and actually i was stunned and described this to a tee as the experience/sensation while over-dosing on cocaine, being inside pf a diamond, being shot from a gun...our crystalline-matrix, your crystalline-matrix rather haha.

this bellow is the intro to this particular meditation practice, yeah its really long and detailed, but reading it a few times, you see where steps are repeated you know, and then once you begin to practice, the methods are what makes sense, because they are what works and so become natural ;)

there is a lot more with the link, totally worth checking out IME

By Drunvalo Melchizedek

There are 17+1 breaths, where the first six are for balancing the polarity, the next seven for proper pranic flow through the entire body. The further breaths are for shifting the consciousness from 3rd to 4th dimension and finally the last three breaths is for re-creating the rotating Merkabah within and around the body. The last breath is not taught. Once each day, enter into this meditation, until the time comes when you are a conscious breather, remembering with each breath your intimate connection with God.

FIRST BREATH: Inhale

HEART: Open your heart and feel love for all life. If you cannot do this, you must at least open to this love as much as is possible for you. This is the most important instruction of all.

MIND: Become aware of the male tetrahedron (the apex facing up to the sun, the point facing to the front for male, the point to the back for females) filled with the brilliant white light surrounding your body. Visualize it the best you can. If you cannot visualize it, sense or feel it surrounding you.

BODY: At the same moment of inhalation, place your hands in the mudra of your thumb and first finger touching. Remember, lightly touch your fingers, and do not allow your fingers to touch each other or any other object. Keep your palms facing up.

BREATH: At this same moment, with empty lungs, begin to breath in a complete yogic manner. Breath through your nostrils only, except at certain places which will be described. Simply put, breath from your stomach first, then your diaphragm, and finally your chest. Do this in one movement, not three parts. The exhale is completed either by holding the chest firm and relaxing the stomach, slowly releasing the air, or by holding the stomach firm and relaxing the chest. The most important aspect is that this breathing must be rhythmic. Begin by using seven seconds in and seven seconds out, but as you get familiar with this meditation, find your own rhythm. The following instructions for a complete Yogic Breath are from "the Hindu-Yogi Science of Breath" by Yogi Ramacharake. Perhaps this description will be helpful.
