Anyone knows the dangers of electric cigarettes with nicotine? We all know smoking tobacco is unhealthy because of the smoke and all, but what about nicotine in its pure form?

You can still get addicted to nicotine.
It still costs money

I cant think of anything else

Yes ofcourse, but sometimes i smoke a couple of cigarettes in the weekends and have been doing this for 3 years (ONLY IN WEEKENDS), it could be nice to switch out these with e-cigs.

But there has to be some side effects from nicotine?

Yea, nicotine itself will release epinephrine and norepinephrine from your adrenal medulla. It binds to what are called "nicotinic acetylcholine receptors," which are located in many places throughout your body, but one important place is the adrenal medulla, and the ganglia of sympathetic nerves. Basically this will lead to increased heart rate, more forceful contractions of the heart, and vasoconstriction, which will all increase your blood pressure. And as you know long term hypertension isn't good.

But this isn't the case with all nicotine products. For instance, they use a tobacco product in Sweden called "snus," which was studied and shown not to cause hypertension in its users compared to the non-using population.

So it will just depend on the tobacco product. I can't imagine that the e-cigs would have enough nicotine to cause significant hypertension, but who knows.

The dangers of e-cigarettes pale in comparison to the dangers of tobacco. They usually only contain nicotine, and not the numerous other poisons that you get in tobacco. Cancer risk is reduced, gum disease risk reduced, etc. Obviously nicotine is still a rather unhealthy substance but it's the lesser of two evils. Only worth it if you're already a smoker who's looking for a healthier option.

I personally use sublingual tablets of nicotine whenever I get cravings. Eliminates the addiction to the ritual of smoking.

The main problem I observe with E-cigs is that due to the fact that they are smokeless, some people won't put the damn thing down. They'll puff away in class, in elevators, in their cars, at home, at work, taking a dump, etc. And it's justified to them, as they're at least "not smoking."

The fact that you have to go outside depending on where you are for a real cigarette eliminates a lot of the impulsiveness, and instant gratification, from just grabbing an e-cig and puffing away.

this thread has helped me, i was just starting to think the e cig was the way to go, but it does make sense that having to go outside makes me smoke less. i'll stick to my reg cigs until i get the balls to quit:)

No the danger is if the thing explodes in your mouth. It happened there's an article somewhere about that and a thread on bluelight.

....aaand that was from a bonehead who didn't use the e cig forum, ie: harm reduction tactics before putting a super high resistance battery onto a low resistance carb that wasn't supposed to go together. See how idiots ruin it for the rest of us 'responsible' folk?

I have an Ego-C 1000mah battery and a tank hooked up to. I haven't smoked in nearly six months because of my e cig. Its different from smoking a regular cig because you just get the calming effects pf nicotine. not all the other crap that makes you all spun.

My e-cig has been a godsend

I quit smoking about a month ago using my e-cig (a Joye 510-T) and it has been really easy. I was a pack a day smoker for years and the switch has been far easier than I anticipated. This particular e-cig is good but I am looking to upgrade to something like a Joye eGo-T with an 1000mAh battery - anyone tried this one or have any suggestions as to which e-cig is the best? I want one with a battery that lasts a long time, doesn't have a lot of drag resistance and has a decent size tank.

I just got the ego c. you can use it whike it charges and last a day to a day and a half. I have a 6ml tank on it. its awesome.

It's a harm reduction. I've personally not smoked for two weeks now, I've tried quitting a bunch of times with nicotine gum and found it absolutely useless - but I found this stuff at the grocery store it is some nicotine spray, basically just mint flavoured like the kind of spray you'd have to freshen your breath, but each spray contains 1mg of nicotine. In the directions it says, use one spray or two each time you have a craving. I used it quite a lot at first, but now I'm finding I only do maybe 10 or 12 sprays per day.

The fast absorbtion is I think the reason it works well, it's similar to e-cigarettes, but I like it because it's very inconspicuous, you just spray and be done with it.

Honestly smoking I had lots of anxiety, sometimes I'd feel my heart thumping in my chest, since stopping I feel way more relaxed and calm, kind of hard to describe exactly but just much healthier overall. So even if nicotine in spray form isn't good for me, I'm certain it's better than nicotine in smoke form breathed into my lungs 20 times per day. And it isn't something I intend to do forever, I see myself just eventually getting down to zero, I think about it less everyday, and use is less frequent. But at the same time, if it were either do this my whole life or smoke, it's surely better as an option.

Any e-cig with refillable cartridges (which is almost all of them). There was even a thread on the aforementioned forum on vaping cannibinoids, but I forget if it went anywhere.

I use e cigs but only use them inside at my own house. They have been banned indoors in certain towns in my state already (at least the sale) and I still feel incredible stigma smoking inside. I do sneak one puff here and there but that's about it.

And when you weigh that gainst certain death and lung disease it's a no brainer for me.... plus you can still have the goal of quitting these should you choose.

sounds like pure scare mongering, even if true. There's prob an article somewhere of a baby bottle exploding, doesn't mean we should starve all our babies..... let's be realisitic here.

^ I agree with Titus. It's madness to have any doubts as to the better of the two options here.

I need a e-cig that I can put in custom solutions of nicotine, cannabinoids, or opiates. Which eCig has this capability?
don't know specifically but i mix my own nicotine, flavor, and the carrier together. don't know how mixing canabanoids and opiates woould work, or if they would. but if you can get it into liquid that's the first step.. u would probably be a pioneer in making it work without wasting the opiate.... never tried myself.
