A lot of people swear by it, but its illegal now. How does one acquire it then? Some say you can buy parts separately, but I don't know the details...

Well its not illegal to have ephedrine, its just 'behind the counter'. Its still OTC, you just show your Drivers license each time you buy it. You can buy up to 9 grams per month for ephedrine/ psudoephedrine, which is way more then what anybody should ever use for ECA.
The thing is that they combine ephedrine with guaifenesin, which helps you breathe better but might lead to more side effects. It still works very well in my experience, but I don't really go over one pill since I don't want to risk od'ing on the guaifenesin + ephedrine with caffiene.
Caffiene pills are cheap and can be found anywhere at least here in the states. I don't know here you live but I can buy everything I need at pretty much any pharmacy in california.

Depends where you're from buddy, here in the UK you can import Ephedrine for personal use in small amounts (typically from Canada) but it's easy enough to order online domestically.
The caffeine and aspirin can be purchased in pretty much any shop or petrol station.
A standard dosage would be 20mg Ephedrine, 200my Caffeine and 75mg Aspirin.
It's worth noting that it's easy enough to get Ephedrine without any other additives if you look around online

Sorry, you can't ask sourcing questions for controlled substances, even ones in a legal grey area, please read the BLUA. Ma Huang (and supplements without the specific controlled alkaloids) is still legally available in most countries, and caffeine and aspirin can be easily bought and added to a stack.
