Opioids Eating before and after opiates

I almost always take my opioids on a empty stomach to maximize the effects, but I was wondering how long should i wait to eat after I pop them? How long until the pills enter my bloodstream and eating wont affect my high or the absorption of the pills? Also does it make a huge difference if you pop them on a empty stomach compared to having a little food in your stomach? I wouldn't know the difference, like I said i almost always go on an empty stomach, that's just the way I always do it. Oxycodone, hydrocodone, and methadone are my usual choices.

It does make a difference if you take them with food in your stomach because it will take it a little longer to absorb it all.

Once you feel the effects then you can eat. Unless they are extended release the food shouldn't have any effect. Eating a high fat meal Before taking oxycodone has actually been shown to make the bioavailability a bit higher but it doesn't kick in as fast as if your stomach was empty.

Just a guess but I imagine that could be due to the food diluting your stomach and raising the pH.
I found this which says the BA is approx 25% higher at a pH of 9 vs a pH of 4, but this is in regards to sublingual administration; I'm not sure how that would relate to oral absorption.

Wouldnt some of the pill be wasted though, and basically be absorbed into the food matter, and just end up going thru the GI tract, and into feces? Ive wondered about this before too, I have always taken pills on an empty stomach to maximize their effects, and usually did not eat for at least 30-40 min after, to make sure none of it was wasted.

You could be right about that, I never really looked into it all that much and have always ate pills on an empty stomach. I also have heard something about eating high fat foods to increase the bioavailability of pain pills but I'm not exactly sure on how true that is though.

I don't think so.
I mean, there's solid proof that a high fat meal potentiates oxy, if your theory were true then it wouldn't. That said I do medicate on an empty stomach and have a small HF snack shortly after.
I wouldn't be surprised at minor decreases in efficacy after eating at a buffet or something .

well I had herd so much about eating high fat meal before taking oxy, yesterday took 70mg IR oxy with double teen burger and fries and there was no noticeable difference for me. now everyone is different but for me nadddda no differnce

I love teen burgers.
I have to say all these potentiates , I try them hoping for creamy goodness and never notice anything. Hydroxyzine, in partik. So many ppl talk about a better high when hitting McDs after dosing but I just didn't get it. However I will say that after dosing, sometimes a junkie meal feels more "satisfying" .. In some way.

I eat tums 20min before I take my oxy and wait until a little over an hour to eat. I notice the effects within 30min and feel they are still peaking into hour 2. I've noticed then when I do more oxy sooner than needed. 40mg can get me just as noddy as 80mg and have the same effect. Body weight is something people should factor in too.

I also prefer to eat after as opiates or benzos are the only thing that get my hungry for sweets.
