Ok so I'm planning on going to an early-summer festival in SoCal at the end of this month. This will be my first rave ever! I've gone to LoveFest in SF but i don't count that as a rave. I'm an experienced ecstasy user , but a virgin to the rave scene. Anyways I want any advice you think i should have. I just want to get the most out of this experience. Thanks!

Do not dose in line or in the car.
Take some time to get familiar with your surroundings. Plan spots where you can meet with friends should you get separated (very likely).

Save some money for water. Yes, it will be highway robbery but hydration is more important than that t-shirt/lights you want :)

Wear clothes with pockets that zip up or button up. The last thing you want is to realize you lost your car keys/wallet/cell phone during your come up.

There will be a ton of litter. Wear pants. Dress so that you are moderately warm since the rave will extend into the dead of night.

Avoid confrontations. No need to spoil it for yourself. Sadly, not everyone practices PLUR.

ENJOY!

When do you guys plan to dose? (MDMA)

SWIM was thinking towards the end of the night. Maybe 8 or 9.

The one time I dosed in the car/in line I was separated from my group. Spent entire rave without them.

If you want you could have a friend stay sober and have them figure out the meeting spot and inform everyone accordingly.

Another reason to hold off on dosing is that you don't want to come down when there is still a good amount of time left before the end of the rave. You would be tempted to redose and set yourself up for a bad comedown...or purchase questionable pills from someone.

Stay hydrated, ride the rides early (small lines) before it takes 30 min to go on a ride, do whatever you want to do, meeting place is very important, just let loose and enjoy yourself!

People always ask to buy E of you at events- not worth the risk. If someone is approaching you and trying to sell pills to you, avoid them at all costs- it's unlikely you're getting real MDMA, and only someone undercover, or selling bunk/adulterated pills would approach people. Have what you need for yourself on you, if you might need more, bring a little extra or just accept what you've got is what you've got.

I only stress these things because for a first-time big event goer who is a long-time E user, some of these safety protocols might be new info.

There tends to (in my experience) be a lot of young people who run out of $ for water, and start asking for a sip of yours. As you probably know, MDMA seems to weaken your immune system, and leaves you open to catching viruses etc. If someone really needs water, I offer to buy them some (cause I'm usually rolling and I'm happy to buy rolling kids water in that state! LOL). It is ridiculous what they charge for water, but that's ome of those things that you just have to expect at festivals.

And when sneaking anything in, crotch pocket.

Buying inside is always sketchy. DO NOT ask for anything and DO NOT sell anything. If someone approaches you and asks if you want to buy then usually they are just a dealer. And if you want to buy what they are selling, look at their eyes and see if they are dilated or not. If they don't have big pupils then they aren't rolling on what they got.

Just my advice.

If you are with a group of people the best way going through a crowd is just to link arms or make a congo line.. also watch out for the e-puddles/ people getting light shows in the crowd. Oh and get line shows too!! hydrate and eat a little before event and make sure you have water with you. Have fun i'll be there with ya :P

Dress warmly. It can get awfully cold in the seats of the kineticField. Not too warmly though. Should be good with a light jacket and pants. Also a good idea to pick a designated spot to chill at. Large groups tend to disperse and its always nice to know where to go in case you get separated. Can also leave your jacket at the spot ,if you wanted to go into the ginormous crowd.

Yea definitely watch for cuddle puddles, nobody likes a puddle splasher :(

Be prepared to be addicted to raves now cause after this you will be hooked!(I know I am lol) But hey at least its a good addiction to have :D

Have fun!!

I went to this early-summer festival last year. My two tips:

*snip, see last post* --RGB

Secondly, THE CUBATRON. I've been going to Coachella every year since 2004 and it's there every year, but for some reason it's never been more amazing than it was at *said event* last year. I think it's because they don't let you go under it at Coachella (it's fenced off), whereas there's a big cuddle puddle at *said event*. I honestly spent maybe 3 hours laying underneath it with my boyfriend. Probably a waste of my ticket (I did do other things that night), but I was peaking so hard at the time that I couldn't move, and I don't regret it at all. It was one of the best rolling experiences (and light shows) of my life. If it's there this year, make a point to locate it on the grounds and check it out while you're rolling... It's beautiful.

Oh, and for some reason, the rides didn't really do it for me. I went on the spinning one where you lay on your stomach, with only about a 10 minute wait and I was still rolling, but on the actual ride I just felt kind of cold and uncomfortable. It wasn't as great as I had expected it to be. But maybe that's just me.

I'd suggest making sure the coat and/or shirt you bring aren't your absolute favs as there is a chance they could get lost. My friends are always losing their shirts because they set them somewhere but don't remember where ahaha!

A small back pack is handy too. I'd suggest getting two bottles of water and keeping them in this bag along with gum, lights, your shirt, your phone ect. Two bottles are handy as if one runs out you don't have to worry about refilling it right away. Just make sure that if you have expensive things like your phone or wallet in your backpack that it's either hard to get into or you have a friend watching your back. Can't trust some of these kids in the mobs.

And if it is possible for everyone in your group to have a cell phone on them, I'd suggest it with caution. Yes, almost every time I go to a rave someone loses their phone, but at the same time, if you're really concerned with meeting up with them or keeping track of them (something I tend to obsess about) have a phone to text them is VERY nice. Just make sure it's secure. A good move might be putting your phone on a lanyard, hooking it to your belt buckle and keeping it in your pocket.

Also, don't overdo it on the pills. Getting floored is nice, yes, but at an event with so many activities you'll feel like you missed out if you just end up in the corner overwhelmed.

I'd like to remind everyone in this thread that we don't allow discussion about how to circumvent the law here. While I acknowledge your good intentions and the effort you made to help your fellow EDers, I've had to moderate/edit several of the posts in this thread in keeping with our policy. Also, we don't allow the naming of specific events on this forum, so I've edited each post that mentions the "early-summer festival".

Also, to everyone who's going, don't worry, you'll have a great time. :D Due to the event's increasing popularity, I'd try to stay out of high traffic areas lest you get stuck for an hour on the main stage like I did last year. 8(

Had an awesome idea regarding my phone this year (bc I usually lose mine and hav an iPhone now). I'm going to get one of those "go" phones from ATT.
They allow you to put your simcard in them so essentially it's your phone, same number etc. If you lose it, it's just 15 bucks for a new simcard!
