Any rollers out there ever "meditate" while taking e ? By "meditate", I mean any activity where one is trying to "stop the internal dialoge".. Zen, Yoga, prayer whatever ? Any intersting experiences ?

There's a lot of fish in the air today

Yeah, but not an entire session and nothing shamanic yet. Just completely relaxing, getting in a good posture, concentrating on breathing, and clearing the soul.
Great cd to get for this is "Hearing Solar Winds" by David Sykes.
I'm sure a lot of people will agree that if you dance and get into the music enough, you can stop the internal dialogue, but silence and sanctity are lost.
Create a space that's conducive, and minimize distractions. As most people who trip around me know, i spend the initial come-on of almost any trip alone, sitting comfortably, eyes closed, and breathing rhythmically and deeply until i fit into the state i want to be in........
Then i open my eyes and am ready to party!

Hey Xman,
I rolled alone for the first time last week with the intention of meditating, writing, and just figuring stuff out. Ended up way to energized to sit still. I read somewhere that certain monks use small amounts of E to aid meditation. I think you would have to use 1/2 or less to be able to sit still long enough. Let me know if you manage it, I have a feeling you could learn alot!

I had a similar experience GuruDaddy, I was able to sit still and was able to stop the internal dialog and "connect", but I found that I could only go so deep mainly because I was so energized and so aware of my physical being. I have been able to penetrate much deeper on acid, but I haven't done that in a long time. After the E peak, I feel less energized, but also less "trippy".
I really do find that E slows my thoughts way,way down, which for me is a necessary precursor to penetrating the mystery.
I love dancing on E and one could argue that in a way this is a kind of "moving Zen", however I am still very associated with my body.
Anybody here familiar at all with Carlos Castenada's early works ?

Xman and LiquidOcean,
Sounds like you guys are way more informed on meditation practices - I just started this year and I've been kind of feeling my way. Any recomendations of good books to read, i.e. titles of Castenada's stuff you like, or really anything? I'd love to get your input if you have time. Thanks!
P.S. I just have to say, I am continuely astounded by the ways in which the internet allows us access to people and information from all over the world. Amazing! (Can you tell I'm also pretty new to computers?)

I'm SO glad someone has brought this up!!! I'm planning on candyflipping alone over the holiday season (I won't be able to go home to the family this year so I'll be loning it).
For my meditation part of my "loner experiment" I plan on doing a tantric meditation form known as Dandruk "I enter." It's where you contemplate a deity's image and you enter it. Once you have transcended the image and become it...they say you can become whatever energy that deity represents. I plan on using myself as the entity. We all wear masks and I plan on transcending them and trying to find the pure essence of Self.
I plan on listening to my favourite cd of the Gyuto monks chanting the Mahakala prayer cycle. If you've never heard tantric, multi-phonic chanting...LOOK OUT! It's incredible.
Will let everyone know how it goes.
Love and Light,
Jim

Good luck Boppity-- keep us informed as to how it goes. I haven't taken acid in a long time, but I think I'm going to have to pretty soon. When I'm rolling, I can remember the "acid world" so well.
Guru Daddy-- The Castenda books that did the most for me were "The Teachings of Don Yuan: A Yaqui Way of Knowledge", "Journey to Ixtlan" and "Tales of Power". For Zen meditation, the best book I ever read was titled "The Three Pillars of Zen" and I just cant remember the author (old age not too much X).
I'm going to keep exploring the potential of E as an "ally", at least when I can stop dancing!
