I recently got a hold of Triaminic Thin Strips which I thought would be a clever way of robotripping. I made sure it contained just the chemical Dextromethorphan, and it did. The only thing that confuses me is under active ingrediants it says "Dextromethorphan 5.5 mg (equivalent to 7.5 mg Dextromethorphan HBr)." Which one do I use to determine how much DXM im intaking? Which is stronger or more powerful?
 
Yeah, that is probably DXM Polysterix. Basically time release DXM, it's no good for tripping unless you intend to consume massive amounts of it over extended periods of time.

Get yourself a bottle of Tussin Max Strength Cough.
 
"Dextromethorphan Polistirex is a time-release formulation of DXM; the "polistirex" refers to a sulfonated styrene-divinylbenzene copolymer complex -- basically, an edible plastic (1-2). It is occasionally spelled polystirex or polystyrex. Unlike the HBr salt, which is absorbed fairly quickly, this compound is intended for longer duration cough suppression. Most, but not all, people who use DXM recreationally tend to prefer the HBr form (which is also much more readily available). The polistirex preparation will probably increase the ratio of DXM to DXO (see next section)."

So if this is the case then i doubt that this has DXM Polysterix
 
Well I'm glad you understood what I was talking about in spite of my poor spelling :)

What makes you think it's not that? Every DXM-containing cough medicine I've seen that says "Equivilant to x-amount-of DXM Hbr" was the Polistirex.
 
well firstly how do you know this? secondly i thought dxm polistirex had a plastic coating to it. though i might be percieving it wrong. id like a second opinion.
 
Yeah it says Hbr right on front of the box. I wonder what the deal is with the "X amount of DXM = X amount HBr".

but that isnt the question, the question is do i want x amount of dxm or x amount of dxm hbr? i dont know which number to go by!
 
I would go by the HBr dose, since that's what the vast majority of people are talking about when they talk about DXM doses.

I wonder what form of DXM that is... freebase?
 
I've never found thin-strips with the HBr salt in it - All of the boxes I've come by only say DXM, so I think bluedolphin could be right. One time, I dissolved 4 boxes into a concentrated NaOH solution(just in case it turned out to be a salt), extracted with toluene, then extracted out the dxm as the acetate with a dilute acetic acid solution. It was really easy, without emulsions forming, so I doubt any thin-strips contain that polysty-shit.
 
ive tried these strips before and read packaging consistent with the previous posters. i did notice it was different, however did not last longer and was definatly a lot more speedier than usual
 
hmmm... i don't know if i was just imagining this, but if i don't do DXM HBr, and instead use Polistirex, i seem to have a shit load more euphoria. i discussed this with my friend and he agreed. i know its worse for you because the time release can result in unintentional overdoses, but has anyone else experienced this?

Tripping on the polistirex for me produced a milder, but longer lasting trip. albeit still pretty intense. I liked it alot, and side effects were almost non-existant (nausea, diarreha, etc.). It lasted a good 5 hours, plus huge afterglow all the next day.'
 
as an experienced tripper[well pretty experienced..10+ trips, ranging from 300-900mgs] i've NEVER heard of these "Triaminic Thin Strips"...what are they? you all appear to agree they are a godoway to experience DXM...any more info?
 
[Edited for content, no source discusion] i took like three boxes, and it was SOO many strips, i wadded em up like pills and swallowed the, it was a very great experiance, i enjoyed it a lot.

I used to do a fuckload of coriceden(took 40 once and got fucked up(hospitalized to but it was worth it=D), never tried anything else for dxm though.

Making pure DXM HBr more bioavailable

[I tried the search engine but I'm sure some of the more irate of you out there can use it better than me and give me shit for not being able to use the search engine to your wonderful standard. Also, I was unsure whether this was more suitable for BDD or PD]

I have purchased 25g of Dextromorphan Hydrobromide. I understand the bioavailability of DXM HBr is poor when dissolved in water, alcohol is ineffective and as a neutral salt it will not dissolve in an acid. What other options does that leave me?

PEG (polyethylene glycol) is supposed to work pretty well. I've never tried it with the pure powder though.

One thing that I found interesting was, DXM freebase seems to come on quite quickly for me without any other thing to help bioavailabiliy.

I'm not sure about everyone else though, since DXM seems to affect me somewhat differently than most people.
