Dear all,

This thread is not really like the one about "Drug situation in Thailand etc etc" - this is the Cambodian chapter with relevant information that may help fellow space cadets to plan and optimize their coming adventures to/in THE KINGDOM OF CAMBODIA. The experience on this forum can provide tips, tricks and "inside information" all which can and most probably will enhance the cadets journey.

Came up with the idea after a friend told me that he would go to Cambodia. Siem Reap was topic two, topic one was hard drugs. He felt it was time to experience a new primitive country where the police loves your money in their pockets.

To the point:

What places have you been to, what was good/bad and what and where to be extra careful?

EDIT: No discussion of specific cities as good places to score. Discussion only of the general drug scene there, and the risks and dangers and ways to stay safe whilst in Cambodia.
Many travelers has a limited amount of time to spend so in this case your friend have one week in Cambodia and wanted to go to..[/B]

Siem Reap, to see those incredible temples- even though his main reason for being in Cambodia in the first place is because of drugs. Would you advice him to go to PP first for shopping? And then go to SR? - Or would you say "Hey man, those temples has been standing there quite a while now buddy" "- I would go to PP river/lakeside if I were you! or Snooky - beaches and drugs, you can´t get both the temples and the drugs!"...

Fellow readers: If you get the chance to go (back) to Cambodia for a week or two - and you have never seen the temples.. The Mekong river etc and with the same interest for drugs - were would YOU go?

I think we can make something fun and informative with this thread. I will also add my answers and thoughts, pros and cons - time for a debate not shown on television.

I think that this thread might be closed. you will need to be careful not to mention the names of cities, as it can be confused as sourcing, or discussing availability (maybe in broad terms is ok). so you might need to go back and edit your post.

People who go to Cambodia need to remember that it does have strict drug laws, so if you get caught you can potentially be in very serious trouble. However, the police dont seem to hassle foreigners as much as in Thailand. but people considering doing drugs here should be very careful and consider whether it is worth taking the risks.

drugs will be offered to you in alot of cities, particularly the more tourist centered one. heroin and ice are readily available and also high in purity and low in cost.

many things that are only available with a script in Australia are also readily available.

I ll wait to see what the mods say about this thread and what they say we can talk about, and then I ll write in more detail. but anyway, cambodia is a great country and nice and cheap. have fun there!

I have spent an extended period of time (1 year) in Cambodia running a business on one of the beaches and feel as if I'd be able to answer anything you need to know about there.

First up, recent years has seen a somewhat dramatic change in terms of policy towards drugs there. Due to the US making such massive donations to Cambodia they want to see some change from it and part of that is living up to the DEA's rules as we all know. This more so affects the suppliers as opposed to the users at this moment, but times have passed where you can bribe your way out of certain situations. The military police are busting crew (as opposed to just your typical regional/traffic type cops stumbling upon some info or whatever.

An Australian man in my tourist town for 7 years pretty openly selling drugs with phrases like "smack in the middle of town" (as a pun on location and the other...) from his "guesthouse" but was recently busted by the military police and put in jail. This "guesthouse" was located adjoining a police station! The local cops were paid/the suppliers but the military are now taking it into their own hands because of government pressure.

The biggest risk I see is the purity. The strength of shit there is wild. The china you do NOT NOT NOT NOT want to snort as the risk of OD is high. NUMEROUS occasions on the beach tourists and local foreigners (as in bar owners etc) OD'd by accident from snorting a line of China.

Tourists get sold China White as Cocaine by stupid moto drivers. It isn't common as in every seller is this careless, but people do whatever they can to make a buck there and you could catch a guy on a bad day who will tell you it is whatever you want so long as you give him $80. I have had Cocaine in Cambodia of phenomenal quality for a third of the price it is here but cocaine is extremely rare and very unlikely to find its way to a tourist as opposed to an expat. Coke import/distribution is a expat operated business.

The Ice is also extremely pure and highly addictive. Too often I would see a traveller come by who had never touched amphets before but soon found himself losing his shit on Ice and going off the rails. Scarily common how often not heavy users of anything other than pot would pass through after travelling for 6+ months through India etc but to completely go off rails in Cambodia wind up in hospital, dying, unable to go home in ways. I met an Australian guy under 30 years old who was there on his third trip, homeless, skinny and stinking trying to sell small bags of grass to tourists to get by. The Australian government sent someone down to find out how he was doing 'cos they heard of him being homeless, wound up sorting him a new passport and a ticket home. This is not an ideal situation...

Don't buy the first bag of grass you see. Insist upon skunk, some may not even know what it is and these guys are really low level if they even actually have weed themselves. You will be shown really average bush buds with no smell, insist upon Skunk and they will hopefully has that or sort it out for you to get some. 10G for the price of 1 in Aus. So tasty!

Stay the fuck away from Yaba. The impurities cause a whole lot more negatives effects than that of normal Meth. More addictive, more psychologically debilitating. I watched/was the neighbour to a French Count who absolutely lost his shit on Yaba/Ice, wound up with a prostitute ice smoking girlfriend who in the end firebombed his grass shack because he wouldn't pay any more money for blah blah. Nasty situations.

Ketamine isn't available unless you are an expat and do a lot of work to find it/develop a repor with a pharmacist who will hook you up.

Morphine is the most available opiate you can acquire over the counter in the capital. Not in SR.

I'd suggest getting some Lexomil (Bromazepam) as a benzo. It comes in a green container and is very nice. Xanax isn't really available and is expensive, generic diaz everywhere but even though the boxes are the same the batch numbers vary and so does the strength/effects mildly.

Only ever have small amounts of whatever and you will be fine. If you get caught, be very respectful but firm with them. Do not get them to take you to an ATM to withdraw all your cash (well you judge the situation but I wouldn't) a 20 should sort you out for a small bag of bud to the cops. They aren't cluey enough to check underpants so keep your stash there and you will be fine.

Never let your D know where you are staying. This creates an opportunity to dob you in to the fuzz for some coin. This isn't common but as I said before if they are very low level/not even really a dealer they could do something like this. Treat everyone with the respect and it will get you far. Negotiate price for every thing. If you feel uncomfortable about a deal cos its so blatantly on a corner or whatever walk off and have a think. Come back later, they'll still be there or at worst will be tomorrow.

Jeezus this is a rant. Hope that kind of gives you some insight.

Stick to the grass and the Beer Lao. One or two nights of Ice MAX (especially on a short trip. even on an extended, you have way too much time there to just get fucked up thats its dangerous to indulge...) and smoke a small bit of China if you please just make sure you do it carefully.
