Mental Health drug induced schizophrenia?

I have a question for you guys or maybe some advice.

I always hear voices when I'm coming down on meth. When I first started using, they scared the shit out of me but now they're more annoying than anything.

But the only time I hear them is when I'm coming down. I've never heard them while I was sober. Until now. I'm hearing them exactly like I would if I were coming down, but I'm not. I haven't done meth in 2 days.

So my question is, could this be a sign/the beginning of drug induced schizophrenia? (I must add my own father had schizophrenia from genetics and drugs)

I'm kinda worried about it, but at the same time, I read people with schizo don't think they have it if they're not medicated, or something like that.

Just in case you need more info, Im 18 & a girl

Sorry if this doesn't make any sense. These voices are keeping me awake and my mind is all over the place lol. I don't really feel like proof reading either, so sorry about that too :P

Hey how frequent and heavy is your usage? Are these things that you are hearing distinct voices or just sounds such as nature (birds, wind, trees etc) that you think are voices?

If your dad had schizophrenia from using drugs, I probably wouldn't be using myself. You can't put a price on your long term mental health but I'm sure if some people could they would consider it priceless. Just play it safe. :)

I never go longer than 4 days without using.

They sound like distinct voices. In fact, the voice I'm hearing the most is my friend Joe. (I know he's not here, he was arrested tester day) but idk.

I don't feel like quitting is an option right now, but if this is the beginning of schizophrenia then I know I have no choice but to get sober soon.

I really hope this is just all in my head and that I'm being paranoid.

My mother was schitzophenic and now I am too( with plenty of other "disorders" I believe it has a lot to do with our drug use when were already predisposed to it, u know? I've know a guy and his is the same story, almost to a tee.anyway Hun I would see a dr., I think they'll just pump u full if poisen IMO but hey, the meds work ok for few people so who am I to judge. Anyway just wanted to chime in and let you know you not alone Harte a t blulight. Hope u find what your looking for soon. Lots of mad smart people here to help you. I'm sure you'll have a whole new community you can turn to by the end of the day :) take it easy... Cliffy

heres the truth: amphetamine abuse and sleep deprivation cause hallucinations and the other positive symptoms of schizophrenia. stay off drugs for 6 months and see if you have any symptom or hallucinations. Drug use can worsen to bring out schizophrenia in susceptable individuals who would probrably have a psychosis or possibly chronic schizophrenia.

wtf r u doing here though, we're not medical proffessionals if you think you truely hve schizophrenia, and not just hallucinations and paranoia fro abusing meth. just stop freakin man

You're pretty game to be using that much especially dopamine-flooding drugs like meth when you have schizophrenia in your immediate family.

You definitely need to see a psychologist and get on the proper medication before it spirals out of control. Your father being schizophrenic already increases your chances and you're the right age for onset. Stop doing drugs. Go to a psychologist, be honest about your drug use.

Stimulants are about the worst drugs out there for triggering mental illness such as schizophrenia and since Methamphetamine is also a serotonin agonist along with being a dopamine agonist i can see it being worse then say Dextroamphetamine which mostly acts on Dopamine. I have bipolar disorder and i sometimes get psychotic symptoms though they have become much less common now. I know from personal experience that Cocaine and Amphetamines make my mental illness much much worse and throw in the sleep deprivation caused by stimulants and i will be seeing shadow people for days after i have crashed.

I don't know if the same goes for schizophrenia but with bipolar you get a kindling effect which means it gets worse and harder to treat the longer it goes untreated. Definitely see a doctor about it and tell him the truth about the voices and such.
