Opioids Drive on buprenorphine?

SWIM is flying to Toronto next week where he'll be renting a car to drive to Buffalo, USA that same night (this takes about 1,5h).

Now I'm wondering, should SWIM skip the buprenorphine (Subutex) that day or do you think he'll be able to make the drive anyway?

The reason I'm asking is because SWIM has no tolerance and it was well over a year ago since he did any sort of drug whatsoever.
He normally takes buprenorphine on long flights however (8+ hours) because it makes the trip so much more enjoyable.

What are your thoughts fellas?

if you have no tolerance then dont drive on it. i drive on it and work with lawn mowers, tractors, and shit like that on it but i feel normal not high. so dose less and if you have 8 hours from dosing to when you gotta drive then you should be ok. it will still be on your system but i dont think you will feel it as much 8 hours later. only take 1/4-1/2 of your dose before hand or try a small amount of benzo if you dont like flying. by the time you get there it will not be affecting you anymore, especially if you get a short acting one like xanax or ativan. something like that. good luck

Maybe lower you're doses. I'd take a normal dose but bupe doesn't impair my motor skills and I don't know if it impairs yours. Bluelight is all about hr and the consensus/mod supported answer will be to skip the bupe whilst driving if you aren't using bupe for maintence.

As to your question.. the answer is pretty simple. If when you take bupe, you are impaired enough that your fine motor skills are compromised, then no.. of course you shouldn't take it and drive. For people with no tolerance, bupe really fucks them up.. if you had been on it consistently and were used to it, you'd be fine, as people with an opiate tolerance do not get high off bupe. But, in your case, think of it like any other opiate. If you're nodding out, and high as a kite, then getting behind the wheel of a car is a bad move..
