any one have stories on interstate flights for weekend parties away from home - with personal supplies?
also, what with domestic flights departing from international terminals - as part of qantas code sharing with international flights - meaning checkin 1 hr before the flight - security checks etc..
some interesting reads in the archive - any updates?

Basically the archive threads all say:
a. Don't bother, it's not worth the risks - get your stuff when you arrive, or,
b. Put it in your pocket and forget it's there.
If you want the threads bumped forward from the archives to add new information just email me at [email protected]

Dak it and forget about it.
I've done it many times, although always been domestic. Going thru interntaional may be different.
Oh yeah, don't wrap stuff in foil, in case you set off any kind of metal detectors
;)

Flew to queensland recently and had NO problem at all about getting stuff through...Put it in my suitcase and made it through fine...

Good advice, but now defeats the purpose...

Damn, I flew up to sydney last w/end - The detector wouldn't shut up! In the end my cigs were setting it off - they asked me to open the pack and show them... Not a chance would I risk it after that, I'd be freaking out...

When you're carrying drugs across the border, the idea is to remain calm. The way I do it is to think of something pleasant, a fun party, a moment of triumph. A sexual encounter. I actually project myself to that place. Anything to keep your mind off the fact that you're going to jail for a very long time if they find the fifteen kilos of cocaine in your suitcases.

Just remember that by agreeing to the flight terms, you are in essence giving them the right to search you thoroughly at their discretion. If they do find anything (even if its only one or two) you can bet that they aren't just going to take em off you with a stern warning.

Domestic flights leaving through international terminals tend to be a little tighter - if you must, stash it in ur underwear and walk through. The xray machine guy thought my necklace was a pipe (they asked if i had one in my hand luggage and i said no and gave them a confussed look) but suprisingly they didn't ask to look through my bag.
Just for your own sanity, if you do decide to take supplies onboard, make sure you are not wearing phat pants, chunky jewelery, metal fastening shoes or anything else that will set the walk through detectors off. While it makes no difference to your likelyhood of being spot searched, it is prone to bring on panic attacks as you are asked to remove your clothes one by one to explain why the dectors are going off.
(being stripped down to a lil skirt, singlet and knickers is an expereince i will never repeat again. - for the small gain it is simply not worth it)

Now I'm just imagining the guy from Police Academy making beeping noises in order to get some poor unsuspecting girl out of her clothes.
Completely off topic and I apologise :D

I've been thru the international departures plenty of times and the only barrier is the metal detector, which should pose no problem if you just put all your metallic items into the basket to be X-rayed. The arrival hall on the other hand is another thing. If the domestic arrivals are the same as the international one, it can be very gnarly, as there are customs dogs at the passport checking point and again at the baggage retrieval point. That will pose a problem if you're carrying ;)

A friend of mine works as security at the brissy airport. She said they wont bother busting people most of the time as it's not their job. But if it is a large ammount they will bust ya. She had a woman drop an ounce of pot in front of her, all she did was laugh LOL

^^ IN the same way, there are some traffic police who will give you the benefit of the doubt and let you off for breaking the speed limit with a warning... but for safety's sake assume these kind souls are the exception rather than the rule.

just came back from a two week trip to the US with the family, and we had our bags (both personal and suitcase) randomly serached (they open it up and pull everything out) about 5 times on the three flights we took. (we are a regular family of 5, and none of us were carrying anything illegal.) the majority of the searches were actually done in sydney, and at one point in syd they were stoping people, inc my father my younger brother and myself to search our shoes.
while they were not searcing for drugs specifically i think you'd have to think twice about carrying any drugs into sydney airport for any flight. i'd say the people doing the searches would be trained to detect if someone was obviously very tense or nervous when being searched and use this to help them decide if they should search you more thoughouly.

I flew to Melbourne last weekend, I decided not to because I am "that" person that gets caught at everything.
But in hindsight I would have been absolutely fine.

If you want to carry illegal substances on a domestic flight, fly VIRGIN. They don't spend any where near the budget that Quantas does on checking. I heard it's safer than to go the old 'Post' method.
