dogma:
a : something held as an established opinion
b : a code of such tenets
c : a point of view or tenet put forth as authoritative without adequate grounds

I don't know that these meanings get at the rather immutable meaning dogma seems to truly have. I feel they do work along with the individual's paradigm, specifically this definition:
____________________
"a philosophical and theoretical framework of a scientific school or discipline within which theories, laws, and generalizations and the experiments performed in support of them are formulated"

Take these two words, not as they apply to group mentality but in relation to individual
thought. The dogma is the scheme of things which you know to be true.
Every opinion you have can be traced back to its roots in one of these two things: some
piece(s) of fact which lead to this idea (influenced by exposure: paradigm) or a sense that the idea fits into what is right to you (based on what answers "right/wrong" or good/bad" to you: dogma). The dogma is the good/bad elemental within yourself. To be untrue to this will make you at the least
uncomfortable, at worst miserable. The paradigm is how your views are shaped by the world around you, what you are exposed to. This part is constantly shifting based on what you are exposed to. These two things work together, they answer to each other.
Some people take the time to examine their personal dogma, understand what it means in the scheme of how they answer the world. Some people make decisions based on "instinct", which is their dogma as unexamined, raw response.
Everyone must act for or against what they
believe. Some have a better understanding of what that is, so can better make educated
actions, understanding what they do and the possible consequences. These people have fewer regrets because greater understanding.
