Does weed lower testosterone more than opiates or alcohol?

From what I read weed, opiates, and alcohol can all lower testosterone. What I'm wondering is does weed lower it more than opiates or alcohol? I have a hormone problem where I have low testosterone and higher than normal estrogen. When I started getting man boobs I went to a endocrinologist (hormone doctor) who asked if I was smoking weed (I was not at the time) and said it in particular is very bad for hormones, although he didn't mention anything about alcohol or opiates which I am using now although I was drug free when it happened. I don't smoke weed anymore but I was thinking of starting again. What I need to know is does weed lower testosterone more than opiates or alcohol? And does weed raise estrogen levels in men more than opiates or alcohol?

i'd say no, opiates definitely lower testosterone big time, but cannabis hardly affects me in terms of libido and energy. Whereas opiates completely destroy libido. I don't think there's any evidence that cannabis is 'very bad for hormones' if there was wouldn't your Dr say why? that's just bullshit.

no it does not lower testosterone more so than opiates or alcohol and does not raise estrogen levels in men more than alcohol or opiates either, unless proven otherwise.

I don't notice a decrease in my libido from opiates so that's not really a good way of measuring hormone levels.

i definitely notice a decrease in libido when taking opiates but as soon as i do speed (dextroamphetamine) i want to fuck like rabbits

if you take opiates daily for months, there's no way in hell you'll not notice a decrease in libido, besides there are plenty of studies showing how great opiates impact testosterone levels; it's well established already. The question is really if cannabis has a greater impact, and i say no, without even finding a source for it, just based on experience.

do the research yourself, i'm too fucked up to read into it but i'm quite sure i'm correct in my conclusions.

I don't think this is advanced drug material, man. This is google search stuff. I've read about two recent studies that refute the lowered testosterone claims just the other day. Google is your friend, man. Just stay away from articles by the biased groups in BOTH directions.

not sure, but a good reason to smoke in moderation and not use any extremely strong stuff. Weed is pretty benign otherwise.

This is not Advanced Drug Discussion material. I can move it to Cannabis Discussion if you like. But you are asking for a comparison relative to opiates or alcohol which is extremely difficult to answer. So many factors could affect that, such as how much of each drug, how often, your unique physiology/predispositions. And do you consider just the acute effects or long-term effects. Even if you just want to know if cannabis in fact lowers testosterone, well yes there are studies that found that it did. However, many studies on cannabis are not exactly what I would call accurate and unbiased, and I haven't really read through those ones or investigated their credibility as I am not a man and don't currently use cannabis. My hunch is that it if cannabis even actually does in fact decrease testosterone that it pales in comparison to opiates.

But you can check out Google Scholar for studies and stuff.

Why would it pale in comparison to opiates? I feel like there is some pro pot bias in this thread.

Yeah of course people are going to be biased to think cannabis is safer and healthier than opiates, for a multitude of reasons (mainly because it is). The reason I think it is unlikely that pot would have as strong an effect on hormones as opiates, if it even has any, is both from anecdotal experience of people I know and from the reading I've done on the subject. It has been proven that opiates substantially reduce levels of testosterone and various other hormones. It has not been proven that cannabis does.

Here's one study for example:

The object of this study was to establish possible influences of long-term cannabis usage on plasma testosterone levels. No influence of long-term cannabis usage on plasma testosterone levels was found. Furthermore we wished to find out whether long-term heroin abuse showed an effect on plasma testosterone levels. Plasma testosterone levels were found to be significantly decreased in heroin addicts as compared to controls. Read more here

Well this http://www.ukcia.org/research/EndocrineEffects.pdf says weed does lower testosterone.

The physiological changes are exaggerated in many journals. There may be short term effects that results for psycho, social and biological factors but it's not like smoking a bowl three times a week will drop your serum avg from 750TT ng/dL to 300. Our bodies homeostasis shit like crazy.

My serum levels are already 220 so woulden't smoking a bowl for me drop it down to like 180?
