a girl told me someone she knew developed spinal nerve problems due to xtc use? is this a true story?

Probably not, I've never heard anything remotely like that. And I've been doing this shit for years.

I had a friend who used to pop crazy amount of MDMA every weekend (she was a every weekend raver for years, no joke, I loved runnin into her tho she was so nice)

And she would show us her spinal cord, and no joke, it sticks out like 4-5 inches. Its fuckin CREEPY almost.

SO im guessing yes, because damn, if you saw it ud know what i mean. And she said she never had that until she started raving.

Kinda reminds me of a quote from a song from eminem: "so lets enjoy, let the ex destroy your spinal cord so it aint a straight line no more, till we walk around lookin like some wind up dolls, shit stickin out of your backs like a dinosaur"

lol

did your friend also do lotss of nitrouse since that can cause nerve problems in excesive amounts

Nope, she actually never tried nitrous before, I specifacally rememeber talking to her about that over a blunt.

We used to be big friends, but havent talked in quite a while after she got a BF, think we used to have a thing goin on, unfortionatly =/

Shes still a great girl, tho I think she easied up on her rolling, but im sure her spinal cord is still the same.

Seriously tho itd shock you if you saw it. She was gnarly with rolling.

The short answer is no. The long answer is "potentially" and includes a retarded amount of variables, and other stuff, but MDMA does not destroy, or crush, or affect your spinal cord, or the nerves, at all.

Did she lose a lot of weight (perhaps from doing E every weekend)? Losing weight in your back can make your spinal cord look a lot more prominent. That said, most reports of back problems, etc. that occur concurrently with E have more to do with the fact that the person has been standing/dancing around for nine hours than because of Ecstasy itself.

It also bears mentioning that Ecstasy, like any amphetamine, releases some amount of norepinephrine that the body interprets as a stress response. Levels of inflammatory stress hormones rise as a result, which over a long period of time can cause damage. This isn't usually a problem for your regular weekend warrior, but if you're doing speed on a daily basis or simply have a weak constitution you'll run into stress-related issues eventually. :\

But yeah, like trainwreckmolly said, I also don't know of any recreational drug that directly causes damage to the spinal cord.

The only thing i can think of is that from staying up mad late night after night and putting stress on your back/neck from dancing or staying up all night/morning, you might develop spinal nerve problems.

Please back up your ridiculous claims with some REALLY ridiculous "information".

If you use nitrouse excesively it will cause b-12 deficiency which in tern can affect your nervous system. In order for that to happen you'll have really overdue it. There are actualy people retarded enough to inhale over 50 and even hundreds of cardriges a day for several months and even more.

You and everyone else in this thread are seeming to forget that there is a huge difference in the spine and the spinal cord. The spine is the bones or vertabre the spinal cord is a set of nervs that carry signals from the brain to the lower reaches of the body.

you can break vertabre without causing damage to the spinal cord but if that cord is severed you can be partialy or totaly paralized. with people who lost the use of their legs due to spine injury have perfectly healthy legs, they just don't function because the signals sent from the brain can't reach them.

'everyone' here are not forgetting the difference.. there are multiple comments one this thread that show that they know the difference.

I am the most guilty person of not reading the whole thread so...its not suprizing :\

I do that alot and put my foot in my mouth in the process

No mdma does not cause spinal cord problems end of story.

This is about the oldest myth out there and is absolute twaddle.

Good call, matt -- you're right, I meant spine and not spinal cord. But yes, I didn't mean to imply that her spine had been damaged and was sticking out, just that the bones of the spine look more prominent when you've lost weight.

I doubt very much that it had anything to do with ecstasy or nitrous. The whole "ecstasy/acid stays stored in your spine" thing is a total myth. I don't know what the damage could be from, but I don't see how it could possibly be from ecstasy or nitrous, which you said she has never even tried.

As for nitrous, I know that if you do it often you can develop a B-12 deficiency, but I think you'd have to be doing A LOT of nitrous to get damage like this.

Only thing I can think of it either that it has nothing to do with drugs or dancing, and is something that just coincidentally started after she started raving, or that she maybe already had something wrong in her spine that she didn't know was there, and all the long nights of standing, dancing, sitting in seemingly comfortable positions (you know how everything feels so comfy on e) brought it out more and worsened it. She should really go get it checked out though.

If she really believes that its the E causing it, she's pretty dumb if she is still using it. I also wouldn't be showing it to people, I'd be embarrassed of myself that I abused drugs to the point where I caused that much damage to my spine. :/

I always find it funny (and don't even bother arguing with ppl anymore) when people claim to have gotten high again after cracking their backs. LOL
