Does grinding make you higher?

Right, me and my friends have all agreed that weed seems to get stronger when you grind it :\ Can this be true and if so why, or is it just a placebo?

It's placebo. The weed doesn't get any stronger, sometimes its just that there's more surface area and it burns better...I find it easier to take larger hits that way, and seemingly get high more quickly. But nope, the weed is just as strong.

I've recently started using grinders and they powder the weed out better and you don't have to put as much in. Always use them now. As for getting higher can't say i've noticed being any higher than chopping it, grindings just more convient

stronger as in more potent? no. but it does burn a hell of a lot better when you grind it, so the buds get a more thorough burn resulting in a stronger high. when i grind my buds the ash is very fine and almost completely gray, compared to when i don't and the ash is black and chunky. you just waste less, still the same potency.

you actually lose a little bit of potency... thc falls and is caught by most decent grinders and turned into grinder-kief which can be pressed into hash.

I meant grinding as opposed to picking it apart with your fingers. I guess if you waste less you are effectively smoking more by putting the same weight in, and in turn get higher :)
Bought my first grinder today as I've only just started smoking regularly, so nice to roll when it's proper powdery :)

I actually hate rolling up with grinded bud.

Grinders go hand-in-hand with bongs and bowls, not blunts and joints.

Grinding makes it a hell of a lot easier to smoke, it is way easier to get a bowl to roast. It's also far easier to roll with grinded bud.

Plus I think that a grinder beats breaking it up by hand, or using my desk as a cutting board.

Roasting a bowl isn't a good thing. If you increase the surface area by grinding, then the plant matter will burn quicker and hotter. More of the THC and other cannabinoids will be pyrolyzed into inactive organic byproducts at hotter temperatures. If you take smaller, cooler hits then you will cleanly vaporize more of the cannabinoids and get more efficiency out of your plant material.

Put it this way - picking apart a good sized bud can sometimes take upwards of 5 minutes.

Banging it into a grinder and chopping it to dust takes like 30 seconds. Win!

Ah - It's not losing potency, your just taking a bit and saving it for later!

I just like roasting it because it'll be easier to take a hit and I don't have to relight everytime, and I still get high.

Because I am not a typical stoner that smokes regularly I don't smoke much to get high (since I get overly anxious if I smoke what an average weed smoker would smoke), I find grinding it makes it all that much easier to visually titraye the dose up to a level I'm comfortable with.
