Does anyone still use mephedrone (mcat meow meow, bubbles, bath salts) these days?

Hello guys,

My name is G1ng and I was wondering if anyone is still taking Mephedrone (mkat, mcat, meow meow, bubbles, bath salts)? When I was in university it hit in a big way and spread over my halls of residence so incredibly fast and it seemed everyone was at it, so much so that I chose to focus on it as my dissertation project that year (as well as plenty of unofficial introspective research myself). I am currently carrying out further research on this drug and have not found many regular users of Mephedrone, I was wondering if anyone on here is still enjoying this strange and exciting substance and whether they would be willing to share their experiences since the ban and your general opinions on the drug.

I have both a personal and research interest in this substance. I am more than happy to discuss both my published and unpublished previous work (both focused on cortisol levels in Mephedrone and MDMA users and the possible associated cognitive effects) and of course anything discussed on this thread will be completely confidential, cheers!​
 
It became illegal and hard to get, and who is going to then go buy mephedrone illegally on the streets instead of cocaine or mdma. That's why it's kinda disappeared.

My dealer would look at me funny if I asked if he had mephedrone, he wouldn't have a clue wtf I was talking about.
 
Its really popular in Sunderland, England. teenagers and some even younger are picking it up since some chavy scum actively try to sell it to kids, my friends 14 year old sister got approached by some dirty fuck trying to sell it. it so readily available (and stupidly easy to make, me or you could make it with an internet search and a trip to a DIY store) and dealers like selling it since its only class B. It was the first stimulant i was introduced to (i had just turned 16) and since my friend was a dealer i got alot for free and quickly became addicted to it, going through ounces a week between me and a few mates at times. i cant really remember them times, its all just a long blur. It has one of the worst comedowns of any drug though, both mentally and physically, the pain you get in your stomach the day after is horrendous. also it literally melts your brain, im dimmer then i was 2 years ago and persistent users that i talk to are practically retarded from it, although they weren't exactly smart to begin with and its damaged my heart (i ran 10 miles in a night after having stupid amounts)

I think i spent around £1000 on it in total. anyway, i quit it after i realised there was this voice in the back of my head constantly demanding it, every time i got money it was like 'you could go get a gram or 2 with that, go on, have a class night out, go on' and the more i fed it the louder it got till it was like a personality in itself. at that point i went cold turkey and quit it all together, it was strange though it was like my mind was a blank state, i couldn't remember anything before the addiction and it was like i was starting over (i was a few months from turning 17 at this point.

I didn't touch it for almost half a year but i gave it another try simply to see if i was pulled to it any more and it did nothing, i felt dirty and looking at others doing it reminded me of crack addicts, the way that enough was never enough and the arguing between friends over pathetic amounts disgusted me. I still have a bit here and there as a way to keep myself up on other stimulants but for the most part i have no interest in it, a £100 night on Mkat is like a £20 night on MDMA.
 
Thats very interesting, as for reasons why you would want to buh mephedrone illegally, I would argue that I know some people that prefer the effects of Mephedrone to both MDMA and Cocaine and would say that even despite the ban, the purity and price remained favourable. If your dealer was to offer you Mephedrone when you next went to see him, would you take them up on the offer or stick with the usual pbuilder?
 
Yeah there seems to be a real shift in the general attitude towards Mephedrone and those archetypes that take it, when I first started looking in to mephedrone I was speaking with rosy faced and substance-curious students (some who would never think about taking an illegal drug and wouldn't dream of smoking cannabis but gladly shovelled this legal powder hungrily up their nose), the typical trajectory of these users I saw was a split into those who adopted MDMA after the ban and those who stopped drugs completely following prohibition (many happy for the excuse not to order the next batch), now those I find myself talking to are more in line with the chaotic (sometimes IV) addicted users , more hardened ravers, those that use it for a sexual reasons and those looking for something different from their usual cocaine/disappointing other drug of choice, did you go back to MDMA after falling out with Mephedrone Callumjay1?

i had never done MDMA before it & i started after it became illiegal, i never knew it existed till someone handed me a baggie of it. but as soon as i did try MD i realised how much better MDMA was in comparison & my attitude towards it changed completely, the only positive of Mkat is that you knew exactly what you were getting, since it was so easily available you never got sold fake shit etc. its like really weak MD and weak cocaine mixed together, only the effects are shorter lived compared to MD. it does give a nice social buzz in low quantities when your new to it, the 2nd time i had it me and 2 friends split £30 worth over the course of a night and just talked for about 6 hours straight, at the time it was the most honest i had ever been with my friends. but you hit a certain point where the drug changes for you completely, for me it was when i had my first 0.5g line, the intensity hits another level and after that its impossible to go back to anything less since its just boring. then it goes from having hearts to hearts with friends to running, raving and generally staring at a wall clenching your jaw listening to dubstep hahaha

price value is good at the start but VERY quickly rises exponentially. *snip*. for instance my dealer friend got hard core addicted and went through 21 grams in a week and that wasnt even that crazy for what he would normally do at the time. tolerance sky rockets

I suppose mephedrone is a nice kind of middle ground between those two. I do understand that lovely in your face dopaminergic euphoric rush involved, + still having enjoyable serotonin effects that give it some empathetic qualities. I guess I would buy it if offered lol, as long as the price was right.
 
From a brief look at mephedrone, it releases comparable serotonin to MDMA but is far less selective insofar as it also releases a similarly huge amount of dopamine (MDMA = 900% 5-HT, 450% DA, Mephedrone = 900% 5-HT, 900% DA at equipotent doses - IIRC). Can't remember norepinephrine, but I think mephedrone is also higher there so it's probably far more peripherally stimulating (jaw-clenching, sweating, body high etc).

Sounds like the most euphoric thing since air fresheners, with a massive potential for abuse, which would make sense as I met a guy who told me mephedrone ruined 3 years of his life. I'd probably avoid it - when I roll I want to be loved-up not arrogantly buzzing (which I what I'd assume the added dopamine could cause). I'd imagine such high concentration of DA/5-HT would cause over-confidence and cockiness. I'd rather not come across as a cunt.
 
Mephedrone is my absolutely favorit drug till this day
Gives me everything i want:
A very fast and rushy kick, instant heartbanging, eyes wide open and very talkactive. The best selfconfidence, alot of dopamine action, just lovely...
I find it much better than cocaine or any other illegal compound and compound combinations.
4-MMC rules them all.

After been researching it for years i came to that conclusion that the best 4-MMC comes in offwhite, dry, fluffy powder from China with the strong cathione scent and its dirt cheap. Not like the expensive crap (shards) on *snip*.
*snip* wholsesale is a lot cheaper.

I think it beats every euphoric stimulant on the market atm.

Less is more with this drug, i tend to do 50mg lines every 1 hours for a night out.
I easily gets overstimulated/paranoia if im dosing higher (Nasal ROA) - so im trying to avoid it, maybe bomb instead ;)

Drone is still fairly big in the North West, ir's good but the issue is that after you've snorted a g of it you have to deal with mouth ulcers and shit afterwards sometimes which sucks.

It's interesting to hear cockiness as a deterrent! I am particularly interested in the motivations and functions of mephedrone and MDMA use, this negative view of confidence increases is of great interest, would you say you avoid other drugs of similar confidence-increasing capabilities for the same reasons?

This is the most positive review Ive had so far in my forum exploration! It is a change to hear someone with such a positive view of mephedrone (many seem to have a honeymoon period followed by negative experiences and eventually a strong distaste of the substance - of course this is a very general trajectory), other than your sensible dosing are there any other reasons you would suggest that explain why you still feel so favourably about mephedrone?

Well, one of the main reasons I haven't tried coke is for that reason. I already take one drug which makes me do things I regret *alcohol*. I don't take the reason of 'Oh I was drunk etc' acceptable for being a cunt toward people so the next day I often feel deep regret and really shitty. I prefer sticking to the drugs which I feel have a meaning and promote self-awareness and improvement: psychedelics and entactogens.
 
It used to be cheap in 2010 then later in China it got banned, and after that it became illegal here in the US. So the price has dramatically increased. So its not really worth it. I would like to get some real Methcathinone, Cathinone or Khat.

Yup it does, it's such a pain haha. I'm not sure as to why it does in regards to the chemicals involved etc. Would be interesting to know why.

Leave some mephedrone on a metal weighing tray for a week... it will shock you. The stuff is corrosive as hell.

My feelings on mephedrone are quite mixed... I had quite the love affair with it back between 2010 and 2011 but I'm glad that its gone. I remember those nights chasing the high... then when I started going into the overstimulated crash, it was either do more, drink alcohol til I passed out, or have the worst anxiety any drug outside of weed can give me...

If it was put in front of me, I wouldn't do it now. I was quite addicted to it at one point though.

It was really popular in the strip clubs around here. Lasted longer than coke, was cheaper, and didn't smash people anywhere near as much as MDMA did.

Yeah it is mega corrosive :/.

Unfortunately i'm on SSRI's so can't do MD and shouldn't really do coke due to the contraindications between them so stick with the wonderful K and every once in a while i'll do drone.
 
I'm very late to the Mephedrone party, but I am sure as hell ready to be a big supporter. I missed the 'glory days' from being in the US + just barely too young, but I picked it up on a recent trip to the market and it blew me away. I've passively had my eye on it for a long while, but now that I've finally had the chance to sample it for myself I am absolutely stunned that it didn't make a bigger splash in the US. My experience is limited, but my girl and I both prefer it tremendously to MDMA or any other stim (empathogenic or not), and I got a similar reaction out of the handful of my friends I offered samples to.
