Cocaine Does a person have to consume cocaine & alcohol frequently to cause toxicity?

I searched and found lots of info, but nothing answering this basic question:

Cocaethylene, the bi-product of consuming cocaine and alcohol, is known to be more toxic than cocaine itself. My questions is exactly how toxic are we talking? Is just one use of the combo very dangerous, or does a personal normally have to do this frequently to cause damage?

Obviously I know that any drug, in any capacity, is toxic to some extent especially when consumed in large amounts. I have no plans to consume large amount of either drug, I simply want to know if I'm damaging myself significantly from one experience? At most I'd be doing ~0.5g over the course of the night along side a couple beers and weed.

I've done coke and alcohol before, and came out on the other end 'just fine', but I've also done other dumb things too that at the time I thought was 'just fine'.

Thanks!

I once ended up in the hospital for mixing important amounts of cocaine + alcohol. We are speaking of 2.5 g and lot of alcohol. Just not be as foolish as me.

I feel I have a very powerful breaking point with this combination. Having done this three times in my lifetime, I hit a brick wall about a gram in- in which I was consumed with more uncomfortable feelings than good ones.

Not only is it harmful to the body, but it's a known cause of panic disorder. I feel as if I have done some minor damage to my heart in a short amount of time. If I had been more cautious and researched the dangers of this poly drug use, I would have never done it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it is converted to a power powerful sodium channel blocker from the chemical alcohol is degraded to- which in turn is more cardio toxic.

However I am going to make a full recovery. I just need to lay off stims for a while.

Ahh finally a thread I actually have some viable input for!

I drink and use cocaine *almost* every weekend. Usually I go out and buy a nice 26er of whiskey, pick up 2 bags of coke (approx 0.5-0.6g each) and go party. I can't say I've had any problems with only doing 1g throughout the night. I end up taking rails much less frequently (or hoots if I've rocked up for the night), as I find the alcohol not only potentates the cocaine, but makes it have a longer duration.

I would definitely be careful while doing this though. I usually stick to little 5-10 second hoots or little 4inch long lines when I'm drinking. When I'm sober I suck the pipe till I have no room in my lungs, and I take rails 8"-12" long, so a noticeably less amount when I'm drinking as well.

By far my favourite combination.

Stay safe + have fun!

Actually, the scary thing about cocaine is that it can induce heart attacks in young, healthy people sometimes and this can happen even when normal amounts are consumed. Combining it with alcohol, greatly increases this risk. These heart attacks are rare, the chances of it happening to you are probably well over 5,000 to one against if you are careful and responsible. But this, this little fact about cocaine has always made me fear it because it's not a predictable substance, unlike opiates or alcohol by itself. When I use opiates, I know that as long as I don't overdose, the chances of me dying directly from the opiate are virtually non existent. But with cocaine, it is possible that could die from just taking your normal dose one day. It's rare though, and plenty of people use cocaine and even cocaine plus alcohol without issues. But it is definitely one of the most dangerous commonly used drug combinations out there.

OP, at the amount you're typing about I wouldn't worry about it too much unless you make a regular habit of it. I used to do the combo 3-4 times a week with .5-1g of yay and LOTS of alcohol. From my understanding, cocaethylene just increases the strain put on the heart and probably is more toxic for the liver, so it probably wouldn't be worth worrying about unless you're doing it on a regular basis.

Thank you all for the insightful answers. I have decided to stick with my prior self-pact of avoiding cocaine, and simply continue to stay abstinent. In the past, nearly every time I do cocaine, I regret it, especially the last few times. I've never abused it, went overboard or even had a particularly bad experience, there's simply not enough reward on the end of that rope for me to keep pulling on it. It's been a long time since I've had any, why turn back now? :)

Thanks again, this was very helpful.
