Does A little bit of weed affect your lungs?

I recently stopped smoking weed for a year, for reasons that I wanted to get more active/healthier. I now want to smoke some weed, not a lot maybe a few grams. The problem is I still want to be active with my football and martial arts. Would smoking weed a few times? Bong, pipe or joint. Would they affect my breathing or my activity level? From personal experience, did a few times affect you?? Be truthful, I am aware I am asking a site that revolves around drugs ;)

Any kind of smoke can hurt your lungs, but smokin weed is way better than smoking cigarrettes, cigs are pointless in my opinion.

Ive been smokin buds for years now, i stay active, my lungs are still healthy, i run 30-40kms a week no problem.

if you are truely worried, bake it into brownies cookies pretty much anything that requires butter.

Likely not. Though marijuana and tobacco smoke are virtually identical marijuana users generally consume far less than tobacco users. Typically, a tobacco user will consume more than 10 tobacco cigarettes a day, while a marijuana user will consumer one marijuana cigarette a day or less. There are exceptions, but generally speaking, marijuana users consume less than tobacco users.

As a result, marijuana users will have fewer lung problems (or at least to a lesser degree). Strictly speaking, however, inhaling any burning substance in to your lungs will cause pulmonary irritation, which could lead to adverse respiratory symptoms.

The length of time the smoke is held in the lungs is irrelevant since most marijuana users smoke less marijuana cigarettes than tobacco cigarettes consumed by tobacco users. As I mentioned above, on average tobacco users smoke ten times more cigarettes than marijuana users.
So if your only smoking a small amount in moderation I wouldn't be worried!

Well how long have you been smoking weed for? I use to smoke for around 5-6 years nonstop. From my personal experience it really messed up my lungs. When I had chronic bronchitis, and I coughed up ALOT of tar ALOT. So I also am wondering since all that tar is out of my lungs, would it be ok to smoke a couple of times. Not that much? Just remember a joint or two?

it doesn't really affect you that much in sports. infact coming to pratice high can give me the perfect mentality to perform.

btw i do football and martial arts too.

dude if you just smoke a little bit every now and then, you will not notice any difference at all in any way. I smoke almost everyday and i just ran 4 miles and walked 1. Ive been smokin pretty much everyday for the most part for the past 2 years and i can safely say that it has not affected my physical performance at all. Hell i work out high sometimes... But on the other hand, if your smoking all day everyday you probably will develop some respiratory problems.

the bigger demon is probably the fact that people who smoke a lot of weed generally dont care about getting a lot of exercise. i smoke cigarettes and weed, but the only times smoke feels like its affecting me negatively in terms of activity is either when im sick already (died by that sword many a time) or if im just too damn stoned to go out and do any activities. i play a few sports socially every week, as well as some other stuff. only just started doing some physical activity again a little while ago, but if i hadnt stopped i dont think my fitness would be that much better off than if i hadnt smoked.

i should probably mention that i cut down my cigarette smoking pretty dramatically over the last couple months, down to like 5 a day instead of the 2 packs a day i used to smoke. probably helped the cause.

you need to smoke a hell of a lot of weed before it would become a serious issue. getting affected from smoking a joint after quitting weed isnt long term damage, its just a knee jerk reaction to smoking again. the pain goes away, your lungs didnt get damaged severely, youre just a bitch.

I workout 2-3hrs 5 days a week, and I smoke bud almost everday. I do notice I have trouble running sometimes when I know I shouldn't but, I also smoke ~2 cigs a day as well. I also keep my smoking at nighttimes only, I'm not sure how running while high is (depends on strain I imagine?).

YMMV, but I've seen Micheal Phelps smokin' a bong, so you know...

I don't know if weed has effected my lungs, I used to have asthma which went away when I started smoking. I never struggle for air like I used to sometimes.

I've been a heavy smoker for nearly 6 years and I breath just fine. Though weed has definitely had an impact on my fitness. Not sure if thats a direct result or indirectly a result of the weed though.

In your position I'd smoke no more then once or twice a week and you can most likely remain at your physical peak.

there has never been a case of lung cancer or serious damage done to the lungs by solely smoking marijuana.

ever.

Dude what are you talking about. There has been no link between cannabis and lung cancer, but there has been links to damage to the lungs. I have known people who’s lungs are personally shit. Depends on what type of method your smoking to. Like a vaporizer, most likely doesn’t do any damage, compared to a gravity bomb that will destroy your lungs. I was wondering after your lungs have healed since I havent smoked in a year, i was wondering if would affect my athletic ability.

even if you were smoking a lot, getting good excercise (cardio, the gym, etc. ) really can clear your lungs out and it really wont affect you at all.. if your a lazy unhealthy crap smoking may mess up your lungs.. smoking a few joints a week probably wont be bad at all for an active person

its really not that bad. the only thing that will potentially mess you up is the heat from the smoke... so use a bong or a vape. the smoke itself is not that harmful and does not cause tar or shit like that to build up like tobacco. i have a friend who smoked almost daily for like a year, quit, then became a succesfull long distance runner.

what in gods name have you been reading, the smoke is not identical in the least bit. cigarette smoke is ridiculously more harmful for your lungs then weed smoke.
