So I bought some screens for my bong but after opening the box and inspecting these are some right shadey screens. really soft like you can bend & twist them too easily and have a kind of goldish colour...

These ain't gonna kill me if I pop them on the bong am I? cause i'll just keep cleaning this old one if i'm in danger of severe lung aids.

its just brass, chill out, youll be fine,
what kind of screens are you used to if they dont bend? lulz

but yea ul be fine, i use em all the time

Sorry about the first post, I was already pretty blazed by the time I got home and it came to using the screens. It's cause i'm used to much sturdier screens, that require a bit of force to shape to your bowl. These things no joke bend just from being handled..

I'll give 'em a try was just a bit skeptical and paranoid hah.

he's used to the steel screens. They don't bend very easy. the brass ones are okay, they just don't last as long.

Make sure you don`t directly apply a torch lighter to brass screens, they may start to melt. Use steel, it can stand a higher heat.

Theyre fine mate I bought a pack today along with a new pipe i picked up and what your described was exactly what i got, gold bendy screens. But whats the difference either way, they get replaced and the flame doesnt even get to em, youll be ite.

Brass screens actually allow better airflow than steel. They're better than steel for things like bongs.

brass screen suck you burn holes through then too quickly..
its all about the steel screen although they never seem to fit bowls well and take some time to be worked in.

Your right about them not lasting as long papasomni. that's a whole pack gone within a few days..

sounds like you're torching them too hard then. it's best to smoke slow when you first use the screens so that a layer of ash and resin has a chance to settle on the screen, providing insulation against the extreme heat that develops when you take a powerful hit and burn more weed. a good bowl should have a screen so well coated in ash and rez that you can't even tell it's porous by looking at it

Btw, if you are using the bronze screens make sure not to use a jet lighter. I bought a pack of trhose screens as i said above and hit up my new pipe with a windproof lighter, I havnt burned through the screen yet but in the middle it seems a bit worn and i suspect that Il only get a few more uses from it. Iv used the pipe 3-4 times and smoked 1-2 bowls at a time so it didnt have a very long run. Stick with Bic!

I'm a fan of just average clipper/disposable lighters, something you can get anywhere than never fails to make flame.
