"Drug overdoses killed more Americans last year than the Vietnam War.

Recovering addicts Frankie and Allie spend their lives helping other addicts, but can they stay clean themselves?

AMERICAN RELAPSE is a feature documentary about the ripped-from-the-headlines heroin epidemic and
the corrupt underground rehab industry that has sprung up around it in Southern Florida."

This movie is available on Amazon Prime and from other sources.

It's a good, though sad watch. It not only is a bare-bones look at addiction in this small community, but exposes how certain "rehab centers" are being inducted into just another cash cow of capitalism. These certain rehab centers offer scant services, for which insurance companies pay a lot.

If you go to rehab, do your best to ensure that it serves the ill.

Important: this post and movie aren't against rehabilitation for drug addiction. They're about finding a rehab that is centered around the patient, not profit.

Thanks!

I found it to give a good glimpse of the disease of addiction by showing how reasonable the (relative sobriety) of the two main people was compared to addicts in the thick of addiction. It really is a deathly thing to be an addict, and not just from the angle of od'ing. I know lots of people already know this, but BL attracts a wide variety. Hopefully it will stop some people from experimenting until they don't have the choice but to use, even when human life is at stake.
