Doctor Will Not Prescribe Pain Meds

Lol headaches can easily be handled... if your a man that is..
This is not the place for this.... What if you're a woman huh? You gonna tell them to be a man too? Get the decision macho attitude out of here.

Well the doctors know best and if they havent prescribed you its because they can tell you are not in sufficent pain after all it is their job.

1. Can you go up to go to the toilet ok'?

2. can you clean and dress yourself

3. can your two legs function and allow you to walk out the door to do your day to day buisness?

if you have a yes on all 3 of these then you have no buisness asking for pain meds try coffee instead

You know I have issues with all three so get off your high horse. Many suffer with the last one yet society teaches us only the rich don't have to suffer like that. It's bullshit. You need to get that negativity off this board. People struggling don't need a troll trying to make them feel worse about themselves.

I used to take fioricet for migraines. It definitely worked. I don't remember what dose but I took tone as soon as I felt the migraine and then it was gone in a little while. Such a lifesaver. I am now on pain management for other reason and have not had a migraine since I started on them.

When I lived in NH I got 4 15mg IR Morphine and 3 60 mg ER Morphine a day. When I moved to SC I have had a huge problem finding a pain management problem. The first one said "I don't think I can work with you." immediately. The second gave me 3 15mg IR and 2 15 mg ER per day which was decent. The Dr always came in with a male nurse with a laptop. My last visit a man with a laptop walked in and kept looking at the laptop. Then he said I should have surgery for my arthritis or use a TENS machine (which I don't want as a Rep already came and spoke to me and said they only work 50% of the time and they can just stop working after the implant!). I said "My appointment was 50 minutes ago and I don't know who you are." He replied that he was the Dr. How should I know who he was?? Then he said "I don't think I can work with you." Shocker!! Apparently his Huge Ego was severely bruised ;) He then gave me only IR and tapered them off so I would only be on one a day. What a jerk. I have degenerative disc disease in 4 discs, arthritis and sciatica with pain and numbness all down my left leg through to my toes. I am in sever pain all because of a "Drs" ego. I was going to look for a new pain Dr anyhow because they made a female nurse or a female office worker (!!) come in the bathroom, have you pull down your underwear and turn around, then watch you pee! Talk about over dramatic. If they are going to watch you pee it's not possible to take someone else's urine out and pout it in the pee cup! Anyhow, I have an appointment next week, Finally, and I guess we;ll see what happens. I already ran out of meds when I first got here and was going to drive to the ER but I started throwing up and my limbs all flail uncontrollably so I had to call an ambulance. I was waiting outside on the steps when the Fire Dept showed up! I asked them why they were there and they said the 911 person told them I was non responsive. I asked if I looked non responsive. Finally the ambulance got here and they kept telling me to stop moving my limbs. How many times do I have to tell them it's involuntary before they GET IT?! I had called a different Dr up North and she called me in a prescription for Bupropion HCL and Benzotropine MES and both stopped the flailing and the withdrawals. BTW, the ER gave me a pill and said I had to leave because they had a time limit!!! WTH??????? They called me a cab and paid for it to get me out of there. I have Never been treated that way in an ER....

Has anyone tried cbd oil for migraines? I plan on purchasing some just as soon as I can make the trip. My wife has daily migraines and it's very hard for her to sleep due to them as well. I have come home from work to find her curled up in the closet in the fetal position trying not to cry because it caused more pain. She is the strongest person I have ever met and I would give just about anything to help her.

Hi,
I'm sorry about what your wife is going through. Headaches are so debilitating.

Here is an article and a recent study about cannabis and migraines (reduced migraine frequency, although edibles were reported to cause more negative effects):

Article: https://www.leafly.com/news/science...rms-that-cannabis-can-help-migraine-sufferers

Study (full text available for free):

I'm more familiar with the medications used to treat migraines if you are interested.

If so, has she taken medications that don't work? If yes, does she have access to a specialist, like a neurologist (best) or pain management doctor, or a knowledgeable general practitioner (sometimes called a primary care physician)? Which medications has she taken?

Best of luck, CD

Well... she has been to several neuro docs. One of them was supposed to be the baddest of them all. I don't have a list of meds that she has tried but over a 10 year span I would guess she has tried them all.

She has tried steroid injections in her neck. Acupuncture. Botox. The list goes on.

She has yet to try they ear piercing or cbd oil. I wish I could give you more information on what she has tried but I just can't remember everything.

I thank you very much for your response and I'll be reading those articles shortly.

^^gmlifer, I did look for evidence that CBD oil specifically would help migraines. The only "evidence" I found (excluding advertising) was a newspaper/online survey that mixed all different kinds of cannabis consumption together with any kind of heath benefits.
I looked at the actual survey results and they were not helpful for this particular issue.
Basically, this study I dug up is all there is for the moment. But I did try!
Best, CD

I couldn't find much online about it either. Thanks a million for your help. Im definitely going to acquire some legit cbd oil in a couple weeks so I'll be sure to post the results here.

I should also mention that I'll be buying a regular thc/cbd oil and a high thc oil. I figure we should try them all right.

Thc I think would help more depending on the headache cause although I can see cbd helping. If only vb was available I believe it would work best

What is vb?

We just got back from getting her daiths pierced. So far her migraine is worse and on top of that the piercings are very painful. Hopefully the pain of one or the other or even both will subside soon.

Sorry that was a stupid auto correct typo... Cbg, which is the first in the chain to make thc and cbd. That's the best I can guess that I understand it

Edit: stupid mobile site deleting my post

Why reduction of ER/SR/CR pain meds? I think that everybody should be able to get a prescription for limited quantity of lower potency opioid medication if they feel they need to, for example 3-7 days supply every month as needed and if patient's pain does not subside, doctors will change lower potency opioid to higher dose/stronger one/ add on medication (nsaids, drugs that works on gaba are good painkillers too) and i am sure it will create a whole new view on pain treatment and erase that stigma that everybody using narc's is hopeless junkie because there will be limited amount of opioids everybody CAN AND HAVE RIGHT to been given by their doc and if the short "on patient's demand" limited script won't help with pain than there is the tíme for doctor to do its job (diagnosis, medication adjustment). I know its old tread but this artificial opioid crisis has symple solutions. Too much panic about pain patient's needs led doc's to behave to their patient's as to a bunch of hopeles addicts. It made many of doctors sad about them self and about the pharma system and many of pain sufferers commited suicide or use illicit dirty heroin.

TLDR all of it but Fioricet did help me a bit maybe 30-40 years ago but my problem was I ate them like candy (and that's a quote from my doctor LOL). I'm sure this has been suggested but basically you need to see a doctor who can really understand what you're going through and actually have the stones to help you out.

Caveat Emptor, my problem back in my 20's was I had horrific headaches that would always end in me throwing up and passing out in bed! So what would happen is, because the outcome/headache was so horrendous, every little twinge I'd feel I'd think it was a headache coming and I'd try to get ahead of it. Makes sense and all but what was really happening was my body/mind was sending me these signals because it knew if it twinged I'd respond with a pill or two+. Very dangerous path but I truly hope you get the help you need. And BTW, FUCK those doctors out there with no balls whatsoever! Oops, I'm out.
