Opioids Do Weekend Warriors' suffer from PAWS or any other long term problems?

Hi, I recently created a thread in which I was looking for ways to curb my opiate use. Thanks to you guys, I now drink Chamomile Tea at night for sleep (placebo, but I sleep, when before I needed heavy medication nightly, go figure!) and have been drug free almost this entire month in 2014. I still have been chipping this month, about once a week and now I have gathered some momentum and am going towards 2 weeks clean off of Oxycodone (this Saturday becomes 2 weeks).

I have thought long and hard about what it is that I want and I know my answer. I do not want to quit opiates forever. At least where my life is now, I want to have the weekend warrior option available on the weekends. I definitely do not want to quit for good.

My plan is to take about 6 - 12 weeks off, get everything in order and then use, at the most, once a week. Now this leads me to my question; will once a week use keep me in PAWS forever? Like will I constantly be fighting PAWS if I use once a week after a month long break? Do other weekend users who have never been physically addicted before suffer any problems from using opiates on weekends? Will any other long term problems that occur with daily use, apply to me if I use only once a week, but have been addicted before?

I know I should refrain from using ever again, but I can't. Believe me when I say this, but I need something for my weekends at least, so let's assume that I will be able to keep my weekend regiment on track.

My main goal is to have a good and normal life 6 days of the week, and have one where I can blow off some steam and enjoy a relaxing high. I want to ensure that I am healthy and that the opiates won't be affecting my mental or physical state during my sober days, so is there anything I should know?

Thanks guys, and as always, your advice has always been very helpful to me. I never thought I was ever going to be able to sleep without heavy medication, but now I can, so I am very happy about that part.

I think being a weekend warrior is what nearly all recreational users started out as and would love to get back to. Unfortunately it's not that easy. I think if you're truly able to stick with it then the side effects and issues would be minimal, but the likelihood of increasing your usage is very high. You'll soon start thinking about how awesome your weekends are and how dull the others are, and you'll find ways to justify using just a little during the week. If you can truly do it though then props to you, as most people can't. Good luck.

I you can remain only using on using on the weekends and not pick up a dependency, then no.. you won't get paws.

That being said, you sound a tad bit delusional. No offense.

Good luck to you though.

Thanks for your reply. I truly do think that I will be able to do it this time. My ultimate goal is to just be healthy and happy and be able to enjoy a good opiate buzz here and there. I mean, they are so harmless when used in moderation and such a great feeling that it would be wrong not to use them sparingly IMO. Fatty food, nice but unhealthy. Sugar, sweet but unhealthy. Smoking, enjoyable but causes cancer. Everything that is worth doing often has a dire consequence attached with it. But with opiates, blissful feeling, no consequence IF YOU DON'T USE EVERY BLOODY DAY.

Cheers. You know, I think I may also be delusional haha, but the thing is, I act out my "delusions". My justification last year for using daily was that come 2014, I am going to change. Well, 2014 came and I have changed and have only chipped, have finished withdrawing and am now almost two weeks flat out sober. So is it a delusion once I actually act it out and make it a reality? lol

I am very confident that I can keep to this after a long break. I am going for a minimum of 21 days, to form a habit of sobriety, I am going to go back to all my old activities and then just get high on the weekends and refrain form weekdays. Have to find a way to make weekday use feel dirty and wrong and I will be halfway there. Something that holds me accountable...:) I got this.

As I have just finished withdrawing a month ago, I am not sure PAWS has disappeared. Just say after another month or so, my PAWS does not 100% resolve, will once a week use stop it from eventually resolving? Will it prolong PAWS or get rid of them for any reason?
