Do the effects of nitrous change over time?

Since the summer when I bought a whipped cream dispenser, I've been using nitrous on and off. Sometimes I'll go a month without doing it, while sometimes I'll do it consecutive weekends in a row (usually like 12 chargers in one night. I usually do two chargers at once). I used to love it. However, recently every time I've done nitrous it's been a negative, unpleasant experience. At first I get the normal euphoric rush and tingling sensations, but then I drift off without realizing it into this strange, dark, paranoid, obsessive compulsive thought loop. It's hard to explain. I have OCD (not severe) so I'm assuming the nitrous is just exacerbating it. But whatever I do, I can't avoid this weird thought pattern when I do nitrous. I always tell myself I'm not going to let it happen but before I realize it I'm in that weird place again. Have I done too much nitrous? Maybe my run with the drug is over. I honestly don't think I want to do it anymore. It used to be like the best thing ever but now it's just uncomfortable. Has anyone had a similar experience? Has nitrous affected you differently over time?

Crazy - not to me. I've done many a Whip It! over the years and they always gave me the same short lived euphoric rush. 'whissssshhhhh.... RANG RANG RANG RANG RANG' ahhhhhhhh

Listen to your body and mind - if it's not fun anymore, stop doing it.

I agree. Simple way to put it.

I have no clue, but the thread caught my eye. Forgive my ignorance, but is that the "laughing gas" the dentist administers?

I've often joked that the only time I feel "good" literally, is at the dentist. I've had some grueling dental work done (all porcelain crowns) ages 18 through 27, so I logged more hours in the dentist's chair than most. I know now why those times were the only times I can remember being happy and pain free.

Funny, if you're an old fart like me @ 54...I'm young at heart, but suffer debilitating pain. I'd strap on a back pack cannula like Oxygen if that's the case. Just kidding...maybe...yes...m-m-m, no...maybe. Pain from trauma and disease isn't FUN. :X

Don't whip it! Dixi it won't be the same as at the dentist. The dentist incapacitates you not to feel pain. But unless it's administered over a steady flow rate to "keep" you under it won't work for pain perse as it's a short lived high when you whip it!

Have you received nitrous at the dentist? When i went i was surprised by how light it was it did nothing for the pain period they have novacaine for that. What it did do was completely remove any anxiety i had about having 4 wisdom teach surgically cut out of my skull while being fully awake watching the smoke from the saw come out of my mouth and commenting on how funny it was.

Its called laughing gas not knock out gas for a reason. It completely removes your anxiety about the situation while keeping you fully lucid so the dentist can work. It is not like they show on TV maybe it was because it was just 4 impacted wisdom teeth but no one else i know got it. It was great, extremely mild and not at all like the chargers not at all, but still very fun relaxing and humorous.

But no i never got a diminishing effect from them.
