Do speed freaks dislike opiate users?

My old man was very into meth. He hates me using opiates. Says I'm dumb and boring when I use. Gets frustrated when I'm on a nice nod and pokes me. When he was well it was like having an overenthusiastic dog who was hassling me to play.
I play guitar. Write, but I like to enjoy my high.
Typical or just him?

I'd say it's "just him", though he's not alone.
People on different drugs are often fairly incompatible.
Have you ever taken acid around people drunk on alcohol? It's not been a pleasant experience for me.
But different people have different likes and dislikes - different expectations.
I would put it down to the individual more than the drug, but obviously both - and the prevalent drug cultures they are surrounded by - play a role.
But on the whole, i wouldn't say it is a rule - merely an observation you've made (that may or may not apply to other people too).
Hell, i've known plenty of people that use both speed and opiates.

I don't know about speedfreaks, but more or less strict Opiate users look down on those who use stimulants, because of how crazy they make people act. Cocaine and Amphetamines seem to wreck people so much faster and more intensely that Opiates. This is just my opinion and I don't look down on anybody for their drug use. I do judge people based upon their actions though, which, while under the influence of stimulants can be quite terrible.

I was just pissed at having my shit flushed, I guess. Just him who dislikes the inaction of "droolers" like me then...

That sucks.
Meth is far more unhealthy than opiates, it's hypocritical for someone to pass judgement like that.
I find speedfreaks pretty annoying most of the time!

Loaded is one of my favorite albums. I love the velvets.
Hes not well, so I guess he wouldn't be being so judgemental if he was.
I dislike going fast. Opiates do what I need them to do for me.
He was using meth, drinking heavy.
I don't think staring out the window for 12 hours a day is fun, but each to his or her own.
Funny how in the end the biggest druggie I've ever known wants some one who has been using on and off for 23 years, to be a combination of fucking mother Teresa, Nancy Regan and a stepford housewife!

Loaded is one of my favorite albums. I love the velvets.
it's a classic, for sure!
Sounds like a rough situation man, i hope the flushed drugs haven't left you high and dry (or not high - or dry as the case may be).

I prefer white heat, white light..I love covering velvets tracks. I'm not quite nico, but getting that sound outta my tele is fun.
All my rigs snapped, my tar flushed...my secret bottle poured out. Not the way to inspire me to action. Got some shit, but no rigs, and only enough to get well.
I'm a 40 year old woman, not a kid....oh well...all good things.. it's sad when you realise someone doesn't get it, or like you after so long.

White light/white heat is my favourite! Some say the most "pure" velvets record being the only one with the original line-up, and without nico.
But truth be told, i love them all :)
I love playing with feedback and noise with my gretsch, which is particularly fun because it's what lou played on those first two VU albums.

When you say "old man", do you mean your partner?
Sounds like a heavy environment, i hope this doesn't happen again. Being stuck without dope when you have a habit is pretty damn serious...

Yes, my partner. He's seriously ill, and decided my drug habit needs to be stopped. It's ok. The situation is fixed, I'll help him, then be alone I guess.
Playing along with the velvets is one of my greatest pleasures in life. Thru my vintage Legend amp, black widow speaker..I can get some great noise.
I actually like my danelectro innuendo more than my tele. The mustang is too temperamental.
If I could only work out the heavenly wine and roses part to sweet jane I'd be happy.
I've something to hold me over . Ill live.

Oh yeah, that bridge in sweet jane is - well, heavenly :)

Take care, BoS - i hope you guys can reach a compromise or something.

It's like two people in two different worlds colliding.
He is over stimulated and want's to be active, whilst you're sedated and want to relax.
You're both feeling euphoric none the less, it's just you're both at the complete opposite end of the spectrum here.
We all have our own vices, don't take it personal.

methamphetamine and heroin are, more often than not, "comorbid" substance abuse disorders around where I live. You'll rarely find someone who only does one or the other, although sometimes you'll find someone who only does speed or someone who only does heroin (with the "only heroin" people, it's usually because strong stimulants give them anxiety)

I think of it as teams. His team, my team.....He's evangellically clean and sober due to a stroke...
I think it's jealousy....;)

There's always going to be some users who are downer people or upper people, although there are also some who like both I do feel like most prefer one or the other.

Personally I'm definitely a downer guy, no question. Give me opiates and benzos over speed and coke any day.

But some of my mates are the opposite. Downers make them bored, they need stims to have fun. But they end up going on binges and having terrible comedowns while I get an afterglow from my DOCs so yeah I prefer my drugs.

No hate for my upper loving friends though. Everyone has their preferences and we always get along with each other fine on our different drugs. We just laugh because we're acting completely opposite to each other. They jump around and shout at me while I'm half asleep. Can't help but laugh at that.

Oh my goodness. I can't freaking stand it when I'm wound up and whoever I'm with is nodding out. It makes me crazy. Like - wake the fuck up! Let's do something! Why would you get high just to fall asleep? Makes no damn sense to me. You can't even enjoy it. You're asleep! Seriously frustrating.

I would be flipping my shit if my partner flushed all my shit.

for content: I was the consummate speedballer. The rush and then the no comedown is pretty awesome. It is hard to do that with meth though....too much stimulation and long halflife.

I fell into both categories. I didn't discriminate but that's just my nature. If push came to shove I could choose a favorite substance though. I can say that the drive to use downers was way stronger so a speedfreak around someone low on opiates would probably not be having much fun. Worry and paranoia are a bad mix. Also in getting other people's takes on my behavior I was more fun to be around wired than nodding out and I too get irritated as hell when my company falls asleep.

Most serious heroin addicts I knew looked down upon meth users. However, pill heads who were mostly opiate users would occasionally dip into either side. Personally, when I was using I couldn't fucking stand meth heads because they were always so... Up, and I wanted to be in a different place than them. However, for a long time my "guy" was a pretty serious meth head. I would often just get my stuff and head out somewhere to get high. Or I shoot up in his bathroom (which was always immaculately clean, shocker right?) and leave. He never expressed any sort of animosity for heroin users. However, some of his meth custies would give me shit for wanting to catch a nod.

I think the "my team, their team" thing becomes pretty accurate when you get into a serious addiction. Until the point of serious drug preference it's just casual and whatever, IME.
