I'm about to obtain a RX for a stimulant, and before I start taking it I want to make sure that after I quit taking the stimulant (ritalin, adderal etc.) That I will be able to be happy..I've heard that after long term or high dose use of amphetamines it burn your dopamine receptors.. Or somthing... Will I be normal after using a stimulant? Will I be able to be happy? Or will a stimulant drug cause me to only be happy if I'm taking it..I don't wanna screw my brain up.

Amphetamines have been around for a LOOONG time, (dexedrine was invented 1937). It is only when you take amphetamines to the extreme that they can mess you up. If you become super tolerant and start popping them like candy it will not be good for you.

However, there will be no long-term effects besides tolerance from any daily dose that is medicinally accepted.

Amphetamine is relatively safe compared to other Schedule II prescription drugs.

Also if you take Namenda you will not develop as much of a tolerance and it will prevent any neurotoxicit

PS: I have been dealing with adhd all my life, if you want some advice email me at my username +gmail.com

I personally think you need to slow down and listen to your doc. He will cycle you through every drug until you find one that WORKS FOR YOU.
