Hey all! I've used this site for YEARS and never had the motivation to join until now. I joined cuz I feel like I've discovered something that could also benefit others in a huge way and felt obligated to share it. Anyways, I've taken suboxone for like 4, maybe 5 years (memory is hazy) and recently stopped 2MG cold turkey after sitting at the dose for the past 2 years. It sucked, as you can imagine, but thank God it wasn't too painful like I thought it would be. I'm on day 15 now, and apart from chills and achy, tired legs, occasional RLS, sneezing, and lack of motivation, I feel great! Granted, my legs hurt and I had no motivation when I was on suboxone, but I digress.
What I'm trying to get at is...I went to the local health food store and began taking dl-phenylalanine like day 3 into my withdrawal and it didn't really help but after almost 2 weeks on it I feel like it's actually working. Most ppl are still sick on day 15 but strangely I am not. Just feel like I have mild PAWS I guess. I honestly thought it would be much worse but after taking this stuff for almost 2 weeks I feel like I dodged a huge bullet. I take 1,500MG twice daily with 1000MG vitamin c and 50MG vitamin b6 with each dose. I'm very prone to deep depressions and I thought that would be the case but thank God I only felt that way in the first week.
Now, I can't promise you it'll work for ya but I seriously recommend trying it, preferably 2 weeks before jumping off the subs to give it time to build up in your system. The d portion of phenylalanine is made synthetically in labs and inhibits the destruction of your brain's endogenous endorphins while the l portion is converted in l-tyrosine which is then used to make dopamine, norepinephrine and I *think* serotonin to a lesser extent, which helps with the depression. However, some ppl don't like the l portion as it can be stimulating so in that case you'll probably have to shop for the straight d variety online. Anyways, I've said enough. If this post helps just 1 other person I will be happy. Do your own research and be safe out there!
