Heroin Diifferent effects from different heroin?

So when I buy heroin, as one would expect, sometimes it is very potent and other times it is quite weak, even though it costs the same.

My question is why doesn't taking more of the less potent heroin yield the same effects of taking less of the more potent? The biggest difference I've noticed is that when I get weak heroin, it never as lasts as long as potent heroin.

I don't get why this is though. I mean, to liken it to pharmaceutical lets say I had 2 mg hydromorphones and 8 mg hydromorphones. I am pretty sure that snorting four of the 2 mg hydromorphones would be the same as snorting one of the 8 mg. But this doesn't seem to apply to heroin. If I snort tons of the weak heroin, I get a good high just like I would get from using potent heroin. But, the high always seems to wear off very fast.

Can anyone shed some light on this matter? Do you think if I cut some of my potent heroin at home, I would experience this qualitative difference in effects? I ask because sometimes it is nice to have some heroin that lasts shorter, in case I want to get high but need to do something that is best done sober in a few hours. What could I use to cut it with should i decide to try this?

I don't know why you are feeling different effects. It could be that since you are a snorter the larger cut is keeping it all from reaching the mucous membrane.

That's one thing I thought, perhaps it is somehow getting absorbed improperly when it is heavily cut. But I guess the only way to found is to cut some of my own "good stuff" and see if the effects start resembling the weaker stuff. I will report back with the results of this experiment assuming I find the energy to perform it.

I'm guessing when it's heavily cut it'll take longer for it to reach the BBB, because you're having more overall substance for the body to take in compared to the potent stuff.

That's just logical guesswork though - feel free to call me out on talking s***!

I've noticed this, too. Since it's really, I mean really not a good idea to IM street diamorphine and I only IV occasionally, I usually insufflate my dope. But if I feel like getting a bit more out of it and dont feel like IV'ing, I plug it. With the weaker heroin you could always, instead of railing a bunch of it to get a decent but short high, you could try plugging the same amount as you would have snorted (maybe 1 or 2 bags less because of the improved absorption regardless, I dont know what your usage levels are) and compare. I suggest this because like muvolution said, its weaker because it's cut with more, and the permeable membrane of your anal cavity is wayyyy larger than your sinus cavity, and also *not* directly connected to your esophagus (which would allow for the un-diffused portion of actual heroin to drip. Or get fossilized into globs of mucous like a beetle in tree sap.
