Misc Different forms of Oxiracetam

A couple of weeks ago I ordered some Oxiracetam from a vendor on eBay. I have had Oxiracetam before but the substance I received this week seems different than the Oxi I had in the past. My previous supply consisted of a substance that resembled 'normal' sugar: a white, coarse, crystalline powder. It hardly had any taste to it (which it should, according to testimonials all over the web). But the substance I received this week was a lot finer. On top of that, it has a strong (and horrible) taste to it. I contacted the vendor asking if maybe they mislabeled some of their stock, but they are positive that it is Oxi. But it gets even stranger: after taking some today, I did noticed that colors seemed more vivid. This is one of the side-effects that Oxiracetam should have.

So my question here is: is it possible that Oxiracetam comes in different forms, whit different tastes and structures?

In case the above discription isn't very clear, I've googled some images that resemble the two (different?) substances:

We don't do substance ID's here.

Given that your analysis is simple bioassay it is entirely possible what you bought the first time was not oxiracetam at all, but instead some inactive filler.

Do take more time to characterise products you recieve, esp. if you are buying them off of the Internet from less reputable sites (i.e. not SigmaAldrich). At the very least record density, solvent solubility, apparent melting point, etc and make a call against the literature before ingesting it. Reagent tests, chromatograms, NMRs etc are good too but only if you or someone you know does them! Never trust a vendor to provide accurate intrumentation output. Vendors have prodduced utterly fake GC/MS results before, it will happen again.

You are lucky you didn't get something harmful...
