Hi all,

I've been a regular stim user for the past year(as in every weekened) and I think it's caught up to me. I started to develop anxious symptoms a few months ago that subsided once I was back at uni and had more to do- and switched from mdma to mephedrone.

However, now it has all caught up to me after my last two uses (which were actually not much. 3 points of meph and 1 pill on separate occasions).Neverless it has been a week and I am still suffering. I have had a constant headache and experinece constant vertigo symptoms- my head fills like it's spinning. Plus brain shocks here and there. I have caved and finally taken ativan to see if it would help and it absolutley did- the symptoms didn't go away but I feel much better.

Nevertheless, benzos are a few shortterm solution so I need some advice on where to go from here. Because if it doesn't get better (and in fact it has been getting worse) I will be using them everyday.

I have been to the doctor and he ruled out any major health concerns.

What is the next step? Should I be worried about my physical health or is this a serotonin issue that will resolve itself?

Cheers

sorry to hear you are feeling off jess. the symptoms you describe are not uncommon for someone that has overindulged in stimulants.

if i were you i would try to eat well (particularly fish, fresh fruits, and nuts), catch-up on sleep, and importantly exercise, sweat it out.

be wary of benzos they can be quite addictive and are nasty business long term. perhaps ganja may be a better short term remedy? although, the best would obviously be the diet, sleep, and exercise without extra intake of other chemicals.

try to relax and not over think or over analyse the situation, time will heal you.

take care. :)

Can't quote this one enough! As stated, the symptoms you're experiencing are far and away from uncommon for someone who has been a habitual stimulant ab/user for the duration of a whole year. That aside, it is my belief that you have not been abstinent for long enough to truly assess whether or not your brain is in need of some massaging, outside of the holistic approach I quoted above.

I have been there with stimulant abuse in the past, and have seen similar (if not identical) profiles of recovery in friends, family and countless Bluelighters over the years - in that, recovery from the deleterious neurological effects of stimulant abuse takes quite some time, and may take several months to resolve itself.

In the mean time, I'm afraid all that I would advise you to do is to wait. It is going to be uncomfortable, so be prepared for that. But also be prepared for the wondrous feeling of experiencing - first, here and there, and then more consistently - brighter days than those you find yourself in currently. De-sensitization of serotonergic and dopaminergic receptors takes a lot of time to occur; so, too, does their extensively complicated process of repair and recovery.
