I suffered depression about 2 years ago and was on several SSRI's. Mirtazapine got me over it and ive been off them nearley a year.

Recently iv been taking the odd Diazapam for the odd hangover and come down, maybe 10/20 mgs say once a week.

Ive found my Depression is starting to come back i.e, no motivation, lack of sex drive horrid thoughts etc. Everything thats accompanied with depression. Having no job for 6 months and also mounting debts.

Im wondering if its the Diaz thats causing this or if its my depression creeping back.

I take the odd bit of MDMA (maybe couple of times a month) and maybe drink a few pints of lager a week, never durin the week.

Any ideas ?

Have a Docs appointment next week but woulld appreciate some feedback.

Benzodiazepines are known for developping depression in some people. Not all, though, and it depends on the benzo and the person: for me the culprit is bromazepam, for you it's diazepam, and so on.

Try another benzo.

Many people will experience side-effects from taking MDMA twice a month. I do think there is some variation between people in how often they can do it without problems, but in general 1+ months in between seems to be what works for most. Hangovers are also not particularly helpful for mood regulation.

Having no job and mounting debts could also easily contribute to how you are feeling.

I guess it's possible that the benzos are contributing to it, but to me it seems like the least likely cause based on the information you provided.

I don't know about diazepam causing depression, but i don't think it helps, might num you for a bit but you got to get to the root of your depression, as my psych keeps telling me. The odd bit off MDMA isn't good as at first its good but while soon you leaving worse.my advice cut out the MDMA for a while until you can source it. If it's the diazepam stop taking it obv with a doctors say so

Most downers can certainly either cause or precipitate depression (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diazepam#Side-effects)

Often times its the feeling of lethargy, apathy and plain sleepiness that lie behind it. I've been on diazepam for about 5 years (since I was 23) and up to 350mg a day. Goddamn, I was fucking gloomy and unmotivated- the year in which I was taking incredibly high doses is a blur to me, except for consistent destructive behaviour. I'm wavering somewhere between 8-12mg's a day now, and ever since I got to about 40mg's, my sorrow lifted (somewhat).

I agree with the other posters; lay off the MDMA and diazepam; and even alcohol. Just try and clear your head for a while....

Take care :) <3

Diazepan don't cause depression for me.

I've used for about 4 years daily 8-10 mg.

Diazepam makes me depressed as fuck and it takes about a week to clear out.

taking a valium once a week has probably not got as much to do with your depression as life situational factors like no job and debts, also taking mdma regularly can lead to depression if you do it more than every couple of months.

cut out the mdma- also how do you pay for it if you are in debt and aren't making money? isn't it maybe adding to the situational factors a bit?

I would say that it is more likely the mdma come downs a few days after use that are causing you to feel down. Also not having a regular job and the pride that comes with working and also the social side of work i.e working and spending time with other people can all lead to feelings of depression and worthlessness.

I don't know if I can help you here, but I have been taking diazepam for about 10 years.

Usually, no more than 10mg a day. It is very hard to come off.

Mind you I usually combine it with Vodka on my days off - don't do that. Tho I write to you on this combo at this moment.
