Dexmethylphenidate (Focalin) info THREAD

1. Would you consider dexmethylphenidate to be a substance with recreational value?
2. Is dexmethylphenidate structurally similar to any more well known substances?
3. Which substances (if any) would you say dexmethylphenidate mimics the effects of?
4. What would you consider to be the best recreational ROA for this substance?
5. Does this substance synergize well with any other substances?
6. What were the effects felt from using this substance at a particular dose?
7. How would you say dexmethylphenidate compares to racemic methylphenidate (Ritalin)?
8. How do you personally feel about this substance?
9. Is physical addiction possible/or strong with dexmethylphenidate?

If everyone could just put in their two cents that would be very helpful. Thanks bluelight!

Dexmethylphenidate, otherwise known as d-threo-methylphenidate (D-TMP), is the dextrorotatory enantiomer of methylphenidate. It is a norepinephrine-dopamine reuptake inhibitor (NDRI) and thus a psychostimulant, which affects the CNS. Dexmethylphenidate is sold as Focalin by Novartis, as Attenade by Celgene and as a generic drug by Teva, Mylan, and IntelliPharmaCeutics.[1][2]

It is primarily used for the treatment of ADHD, for which it is generally effective and well-tolerated.[3] Height and weight may be reduced by stimulant therapy in children, although this is not a major concern for most young people.[4] Rarely, treatment emergent psychosis can occur during long-term therapy with dexmethylphenidate; regular psychiatric monitoring of people who are taking methylphenidate is recommended.

Although the FDA has not concluded that psychostimulants increase the risk of cardiac problems in people without a heart condition, all psychostimulant labels include a warning stating that they may increase the risk of cardiovascular problems or sudden death.

Suicidal thinking has been reported in young people who are taking antidepressants at the same time they are taking an ADHD stimulant and many antidepressants carry a "black box warning" label concerning a possible increase in suicidal ideation in patients under 25 years of age.[6]

Insomnia, dizziness, nausea, stomach pain, euphoria, headache, anxiety, anorexia, and weight loss are possible side effects of dexmethylphenidate.

If anybody could reply it would really be helpful, I am trying to find whether this prescription would be a waste for me to fill. Thanks!

1. Stop bumping your posts. This is not an instant help line.
2. Read the Erowid methylphenidate vault
3. Read the Wikipedia articles on methylphenidate and dexmethylphenidate
4. Use Google or other search engines.
5. Use your mighty brain to make your own value judgements.

The long and short of it is dexmethylphenidate is the same shit as regular methylphenidate, just with a lower incidence of side effects, roughly 2x potency per milligram, and costs more.

You shouldn't be filling prescriptions because they're fun to abuse, by the way.
