Last week my pharmacist told me Dexedrine (dextroamphetamine sulphate) has been discontinued in tablet form, but will remain available in spansule form. I confirmed this via email to Glaxo. (I'm not sure how much Dexedrine production Glaxo controls these days, but their customer service people told me the tabs were no longer available.)
When I mentioned this to my psychiatrist this a few days later he was upset. Many of his patients were greatly helped by instant-release Dex and now he will have to go with a less effective replacement. (In my case, Adderall, which has worked okay for me in the past. I have been using Dex for breakthroughs in my primary daily regimen of Vyvanse and am confident that Adderall will be suitable for this secondary role.)
As for the consequences of no more Dexies for Bluelighters, it would seem a national day of mourning is in order.
