Just wondering what the effects of sleeping on Dextroamphetamine is, and if I 'save' it by sleeping (IE have it work less while I'm asleep). I am mainly concerned with the effects it has on sleep.

A little background:
Just wondering if any of you fall asleep on Dexedrine. I switched from Adderall to this stuff, and I think its wonderful that I don't get all sweaty and my feet don't turn purple anymore, but theres just one thing:
I seem to be more likely to sleep on this stuff than if I didn't take it.

I seem to have the ability to stay up, but the problem is that my body feels extremely comfortable and then I end up falling asleep more often than I would like to. I am not interested in changing my prescription.

Sleeping on amphetamines is possible but it is usually pretty light/rough sleep, and doesn't last for longer than 2-3 hours. I've always woken up after 2 hours when sleeping on amphetamines, and after I wake up I tended to feel it a lot less.

I had the same experience. I'm just wondering if its possible to get rid of it.

wow..sleep and dexi's in the same sentence.. lol personally i didnt sleep for days on these beauties, they were my first love pill wise, maybe i was eating too many of them though!

Haha thats good! I am probably going to end up as one of those weirdos who take Ritalin to go to sleep. I get too comfortable with them, and yeah I can stay up on them, but just sometimes I get too comfortable. Its sooo lame, I wanna get rid of it so I can get more work done, it seems to always happen sometime in the afternoon as well.

I have never beer diagnosed with add/adhd, but I have a prescription for adderall. In my experiences all of the adderalls and Vyvance make me feel like a crack head, except for the adderall generic brand by Eon labs, Sandoz. I take 10 mg at work and feel sleepier than when I am not on anything at all. Its a trip. I imagine that quality brand dexedrine would be similar to Sandoz adderall in its sleepy effects for the first couple hours. To me its a sign of a good quality medicine. It lasts quite a long time too and I never get the jitters unless I overdose or take too much caffeine.

everyone reacts differently to the same medications
its more your body chemistry than the drug itself, and possibly your natural tolerance to that drug as well

at times dexamphetamine makes me feel sleepy (at smaller doses & not initially)
but high doses always keep me awake for long periods of time
im confident if you took a substantial dose you would be amped up for many hours ;)

jitterness, anxiousness etc. is generally associated with levo-amphetamine, found in adderall and the like
if one is used to these effects, when switching to pure dexamphetamine, one may feel less amped up and awake (but the experience is generally much smoother)

its really subjective to the user and the time when the amphetamines are taken
i would make sure you have tried this a few times before coming to a conclusion, if this is not already the case...?

peace.
:)

Some people fall asleep on stims, some people can't sleep on benzos/barbs, some people get anxiety and depression from SSRI's... it's all body chemistry. Try a different stim, or just don't use stims at all.

Are you scripted these or taking them for recreation? If you are scripted them I would change your dosing schedule so you can come down then get some sleep.. if its recreational then I would only do them when you don't intend to sleep. When my dr put me on dexedrine when I was a kid they also added Clonadine to help me sleep at night, they also tried trazadone.. Dexedrine made me anorexic so they switched me to adderall. I didn't even have ADHD I had undiagnosed anxiety.. my life was a trainwreck back then. Talk to your dr about these problems as they are pretty common, and good luck!

tl;dr
I get my script for ADD, I do have it.
What is a low dose?
What dose sandoz do you take and still sleep?
Is Adderall better for you than caffeine?

I get them for ADD. I usually take a low dose of it to try to find my threshold. I've gone as low as about 4.7mg and have tried the 15mg. What would you call consider a low dose though?

I hope I get a good high on them even if I take them daily, I do have ADD, but I don't want to lose the high (but I know I will :( ). I read the same thing about sandoz, I didn't know they were so smooth that you could fall asleep on them though! Adderall is better for my concentration, but I got dexedrine since it didn't make my heart go THUMP THUMP THUMP. What strength sandoz do you sleep on?

I'm also thinking about adding caffeine, but I'm guessing that levoamphetamine is better than caffeine for your body and the effect, right? I don't know whats better for the effects, levoamphetamine or caffeine. I wanna find something that doesn't turn my hands and feet purple, but also gives me enough concentration. I find that I am more social and nice on Dexedrine, but I don't feel motivated. I saw some cute girls I could have talked to and probably got their numbers, but I was like ehhh I am not motivated enough. =(

But at least I was insistent enough to my doctor. I upped it to 25mg from 15mg. If this dosage doesn't work, I will ask him to make them all equal this time.

My brother had been diagnosed with ADHD as well, and he didnt usually get high on them until he got a bit older and realized how kick ass they actually were if he took more than he was told to.. and a lifetime of use was born.. lol but yeah, even with the ADHD, he felt them when taking a few more than perscribed.. but he also had a downer perscribed with them for the night so he could sleep.. i cant remember what they had given him though.. he told the docs he was getting insomnia from the Dexis and the doc gave him a sleeper that was safe to take with the dexidrine tablets
