Sorry if this is in wrong thread, been a member for long time but havent read rules in ages. Ill try to keep short as short as possible.
To start, I legitimately have ADHD and I only wish to take my meds responsibly cause I desperately need.

When I first was diagnosed I got 10mg Ritalin instant once daily. It worked wonders the first week (taking normaly) but very shortly it lost most of its therapeutic effects. I was too impatient to wait for doc to up dosage so I doubled dosage and rationed them taking every 2 days. After a month my doc raised dose up to 30mg once daily but by then I needed to take at least 1 ½ of them to help with school. As doc raised dose I was juggling a raised tolerance with some success but eventually gave up on legitimate use and saved them every week before snorting them all. Almost 4 months ago I before quitting I could easily snort 120-200mg in one sitting.
Now started taking vyvanse 40mg first time today. Being time released I know that 40mg throughout a day isn’t going to equal 30mg all at one time so I took two 40’s at once for experimental purposes only to get a feel for a difference in tolerance, how it would affect me at work so I know what to tell doc next visit. It took 1.5 hours to kick in and it was very subtle/weak. One hour after I started to feel a comedown similar to that of Ritalin so I took one more thinking that 80mg wasn’t going to sustain me at work.

Now you know my life story I’d like to ask,
So far I have been feeling ups and downs since I first took it. Never at one point did I get any euphoria or high feeling, just a short burst in focus/motivation that quickly faded and burst up again every few minutes. Is this abnormal for any kind of XR amphetamines?

In your opionin/experience would it be possible to skip dose(s) to save for a later date if needed without completely ruining theraputic effects?

Does anyone have a similar story and how long did it take for a noticeable drop in tolerance for either therapeutic or recreational use and how could I take/do anything else to boost the effectiveness?

Sorry for long post, All advise greatly appreciated.

Almost forgot
Wouldn't losing bodywieght make Amphetamines more effective considering bigger people can tolerate higher doses easier? I am 230lbs and 6 feet tall. I excersice everyday and could lose 30-40lbs easily if needed. I have speed racer like metabolism =D.

The highest dose vyvanse available is 70mg, which just wont work. What other meds are more effective/potent at an equal or lesser dose I can bring up to doc?

Bigger people don't necessarily tolerate higher doses of drugs easier, and losing weight is probably going to happen on it's own if you're using amphetamines like this.

Just so you know, we aren't here to help you get high or help you get prescribed any medications from a doctor, but since you're a legitimate patient I would ask your doctor how he feels about Dexedrine (Dextroamphetamine). IMO it's one of the cleaner medications and it's steady and constant in it's effects, and chances are you wouldn't need such a ridiculously high dosage as it's more potent. The better option is Provigil (modafinil), it's not an amphetamine but it's definitely worth a try.

Vyvanse is a pro-drug, meaning that it requires enzymes to metabolize it into the active ingredient, so it can only be taken orally, and the way everyone's body reacts to Vyvanse is different. I, like you, didn't get good effects from it, even at obscene dosages.

I would avoid the methylphenidate family altogether, stick to low dosage amphetamines, or better yet, look into Provigil (modafinil), work with your doctor on this.

I would like to add that tolerance to amphetamines can be really rough. It can take months to fully reset your tolerance, so if you still it, try to keep it. You should be able to skip a dose and save it for a later date. This might even help to reduce tolerance unless you are going to use that dose to double up on a later date.
