I take Sertraline, Abilify and Clonazapam for depression, anxiety and ocd. Presently, I'm dealing with a major problem with caffeine consumption that's starting to ruin my life. I know that sounds strange, but it's true. I drink 6-8 20-ounce Diet Dr. Peppers a day, every day. I don't like how it makes me feel, but I can't stop drinking it; I'm obsessed with it and think about it all the time. I have heard that caffeine interferes with antidepressants - not just because it makes you jittery, but that it really interferes with the absorption process and makes your medication ineffective or less effective. I feel gross, physically and mentally. I have a therapist and she is working with me to get off the soda, but it's not working currently. I used to be slender and attractive, now I sort of look like I'm pregnant (I'm not.). I feel sick during the work day and I'm losing my productivity (I'm in sales.). I don't feel like eating when I drink a lot of soda. Does anyone have any advice or comments? I would appreciate them!!!

z of soda you consume. Also, make sure and eat foods that are natural vasodilators (spinach, lettuce, beets, etc). this will open up your blood vessels so your heart doesn't have to work as hard to pump blood (hence the jittery feeling). you probably experience cold hands and feet too (the vasodilators will help with that). If all else fails, ask if your pdoc will prescribe a beta-blocker called propranolol which is used for people with high blood pressure and social anxiety/stage fright.
