Misc depakote drug interactions?

okay so i've had severe OCD anxiety and depression since a VERY young age ( 8 ). i just had a study done and i've been diagnosed with minor temporal lobe epilepsy (starer). doc says it explains the OCD/depression/anxiety and as such i've been prescribed valproate (depakote).

supposed to start on it tomorrow. i'm really not much of a drug user but anyone know how this will go with a bit of marijuana? i haven't smoked in over a year but due to severe life problems i really need a break and i don't want to use anything harder.

i'm aware THC is a gaba-antagonist but will it interfere with the long term treatment if i just bake a few brownies this weekend?

also, i'm on wellbutrin, getting off wellbutrin tomorrow, can i start depakote tonight? i don't see any drug interactions between the two online.

There's no reason you can't start the divalproex sodium (Depakote) tonight. Nonetheless, bupropion (Wellbutrin) is notorious for provoking seizures, why would you risk taking it another day if you have epilepsy? It would defeat the whole purpose to take an anti-epileptic-drug which raises the seizure threshold with bupropion which lowers it.

I don't think cannabis will be an issue for you, or will interact in any dangerous manor with the divalproex sodium. However divalproex sodium tends to be dysphoric for most people with a whole array of side effects such as dizziness and nausea, so I'm unsure whether or not it and the cannabis will compliment each other.

Should be fine. I myself and other people I know have been prescribed Xanax and Depakote at the same time. The Xanax might hit you harder than usual.

BTW, do you drink? Depakote can be pretty harsh on your liver. I had to stop taking it because of this. The precription usually comes with this warning. You might want to get your enzyme levels checked every so often while taking that stuff.

Yeah you're supposed to get regular blood tests on depakote. I was on it for awhile but it elevated my white blood cell count to the point they convinced me I had fucking HIV even though I've never shared a needle in my life (I pissed my ex off because I refused to share even with him, fuck that). I don't have it, but they scared the shit out of me and I stopped taking it immediately.

I checked my drug interaction app and the only thing that came up was decrease psycho motor impairment, meaning drowsiness, slower your thinking ect. My app doesn't have THC listed so I used marinol instead. There were no other interactions.

Wellbutrin, depakote, marinol, Xanax.
