Depakote and MDMA

I have a friend who takes 300mg depakote per day.

Can he still roll, or will it block it?

Depakote isnt an SSRI or anything is it?

My gf use to roll on it no problem. Everyone is different start small and work your way up if your worried about interactions.

I think depakote might reduce the euphoria and excitement of MDMA, being a mood stabilizer, I mean mania is quite similar to intense euphoria, however there are no direct interaction, take a low dose of each and see

This medication is used mainly for seizures and/or seems to be a bi-polar medication. As it also plays a function in the liver I personally feel that adding MDMA to the mix is a bad idea.

I personally have no idea and I can find information that says both - No problem / Big problem.

It would be a good idea to find out what other meds he is using as it seems to often be used in conjunction with other things.

Depakote could elevate liver enzymes but the elevation is not that serious, the user could get a blood test done to be sure. I don't see how a dangerous interaction would occur, if anything the depakote could prevent some of the neurotoxicity of MDMA. It enhances GABA function and blocks sodium/calcium channels, making it somewhat of a neuroprotective agent.

Hey guys, I'm actually on 250mg of Sodium Valproate daily (Depakine). I know this thread is old but I'm still not finding proper informations about the interactions with MDMA. I take Depakine because I suffer Myoclonia when falling asleep and it stops the zaps. Does anyone on the same treatment has an experience to share ?
